When digital was first being pushed they claimed prices would be lower, that's not the case when a game has been out for a while you can usually get it far cheaper physically in a shop because shops want to clear out their inventory. It's more about controlling prices and killing the second hand market, I would say it's anti-consumer.

Yeah, I suspect another part of it is Sony/MS/etc don't want to upset online/high Street retailers who sell their consoles/games by competing and undercutting them with their own digital store.

The problem with that is it's resulted in IMO ridiculously overpriced digital copies of games. The fact I can buy something like demon's souls on disc via an online retailer for £60 whereas the Sony store charge £70 for the digital copy is ludicrous. Clearly the digital should be cheaper but for political reasons Sony won't sell it for less than RRP!

Same as above, I play them once and sell them on. I generally only ever have one physical game at any one time. Bit different with this launch since I've bought three which I didn't need to but the want was too great. I kept my copy of TLOU2 because I want to play it again on the PS5. It's the only PS4 game I own physical. I used to hoard but not anymore. If I fancy playing again down the road I'll pick up in a deep sale on PSN.

I'm going for a more focused approach.

Demon souls will keep me busy until Cyberpunk.
I hope it lives up to expectations.
After cyberpunk I'll pick up spiderman.
That should tie me over to the New year and Hitman 3 release in January.

Out off all your games you are getting with your PS5 which are you going to fire up first once setup etc? Mine AC Valhalla that is if my 6 year old lets me if not Sackboy :)
Will prob be Astro, hopefully the PS5 is delivered before may son gets back from school.
The only thing he seems to want to play is crappy Fortnite

I see Godfall isn't reviewing particularly well. Currently bottom on Metacritic for all Ps5 games by quite a margin.

I got that alert - I hit the site immediately and there were 2 available from a 3rd party seller at £199.
I dropped Amazon UK Twitter a line saying that when I sign up for stock alerts I don't expect to be alerted to price gouging scum 3rd party sellers trying to rip me off - no response yet :)

There is one on there now... for £269.99! :(

Did you get a response back?

Not surprised. Myself and pretty much everyone on here thought it looked like a generic copy/paste unity game with fancy visuals and not much else going for it.

Yeah I was of the same opinion. Just had a thought, will I be able to play my PS2 games I got on PS4? I fancy playing Dark Cloud again.

My local indy store have told me they'll have 20 consoles on launch day. Not taking reservations. They are also selling them in bundles only.

£495 for the digital with 4 games and £692 for the standard. That comes with extra dual sense, PS5 camera and three games.

Bit crappy of them. Especially as they are saying Astro's playroom is one of the inc games.

Selling them online only, of course? Seeing as there's zero in person sales meant to be happening with the PS5, only click and collect or fully online.

No its in store. I'm in Scotland. So not in lockdown.
Doesn't matter, no consoles should be available for purchase in store on launch day:

https://blog.playstation.com/2020/11/05/playstation-5-launch-day-ordering-update/

No units will be available in-store for purchase on launch day (November 12 or November 19, depending on your region) – please don’t plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase. Be safe, stay home, and place your order online.
