BMW continue with their hostile "OK Boomer" marketing angle, despite criticism...

Its worth clicking through to their Twitter account and reading some of the other posts and comments they have been sharing, and looking at the images in the link as well. Its not just this one tweet. Their twitter feed reads like they have put a 15 year old in charge.

Sounds like Trump has maybe got a new job?

Resfusal to make Android Auto an option has kept me away from BMW in the past (not had an Apple phone since the 4s). Looks like the fact that they're pug ugly will keep me away in the future!

My 3 series has wireless android auto.

They had a phase when the external styling was fantastic - current C Class - but the interior offering and infotainment system particularly was exceptionally poor. Then they introduced the class leading MBUX system - at the same time as repeatedly beating everything fitted with it with the ugly stick :(

Agreed, although they’re still less ugly than most of the new BMW range. “Less ugly” probably isn’t what you’re looking for when you’re spending that kind of money though, so I can definitely sympathise :p

TBH German styling in general has just got ugly. Porsche are ok, but I wouldnt say they stand out as pretty like the classic ones.

Its a very recent thing, only rolling out this year. When I was looking for a new car last year, BMW still said they had no plans to support it.

I'm still not sure why everyone is so desperate to have this. I had it for a couple of weeks on a new 5 series and forgot to connect my phone. Just didn't seem to see what the benefit was? The car already had great satnav, integrated Spotify etc?

Will no-one think of the poor buggers that have to fit the indicators to these new BMWs? It was bad enough for them to fit nicely styled parts that no BMW driver would ever use, but now that have to fit ugly parts that won’t be used outside of an MoT test...

Waze for navigation (traffic reports are really good) and pocket casts and audible for sound.

I use it for waze, much better for up to date traffic, speed cameras etc..

Also use it for audible on long drives :)

I've unfollowed BMW on Twitter because lately their social media team have been posting puerile nonsense and insinuating that anyone who doesn't approve of their new design language should "get with the program" and "move with the times" rather than accepting that they might have screwed something up.

All I see are critics, reviewers, owners, enthusiasts, clubs, and anyone in-between condemning the direction BMW have taken with their design as misguided at best, and vomit inducing and embarrassing at worst.

Even aftermarket companies developing alternative front bumpers for as yet unreleased models wasn't enough for them to consider they might have made the wrong move. When has that EVER happened before? I'd wager the answer is never.

I think they need to sack the design team, sack the social media team, and start again.

Churning out disgustingly ugly cars and insulting everyone who has a problem with it on social media isn't the way to do business, BMW.
Horrible

Interestingly, it happened, albeit on a much smaller scale with Chris Bangle and the E60. And by the end of that cars life, it actually fitted in rather well with other vehicles being produced at the time.

I'm also sure that BMW losing one follower on TweetBook is a real inconvenience to them and will immediately make them stand up and realise the error of their ways...

I was just about to post that very thing. I did have a bangle E61 but for me that was nowhere near as off the mark as the E60. The sad thing is they haven't paused to check reaction they've bangled the whole range.

I would have thought that as 'boomers' are likely to be the only ones able or willing to spend the money on this monstrosity they would be a little more subtle in their advertising.

Looking at their adverts, they seem to be suggesting that 'boomers' don't want to buy electric. They certainly do, just not pig ugly machines like the iX. What a really strange thing to say.

What on earth are they doing to the front of their cars? Are they trying to give their cars a snout?

That new longer vertical style of front grill does NOT work.
