Gordon Murray T50

It's so beautiful.

Harry's interview is brilliant, his restraint about the indicator buttons on the steering wheel was funny.

I love Harry's videos. His passion and knowledge for cars is obvious, and despite being considerably well off, he comes across as very down to Earth and humble.

If there's anyone that can succeed with a new supercar, it's this man. You can really tell just how passionate he is about it and the importance of the driver experience. I think it looks brilliant.

I think these types of low volume manufacturers could be the answer for a lot of problems within the car industry. Hopefully the T50 is just the first car from GMA. A spiritual successor to the Esprit 300 sport would be amazing.

GM is 70 something now so probably looking to retire after this :(

I think it looks incredible. If the Euromillions came in I think i'd be considering it, more than a Koenigsegg or Valkyrie or AMG:One.

Much more than a lot of the other 'hypercars' (apart from perhaps the 918 Spyder?) this looks like a car you could live with for the rest of your life if you wanted and actually DRIVE rather than it sitting in a humidistat controlled garage.

Definitely more appealing than the Valkyrie (which is having major development issues). I wrote a blog on the three 3 seat hypercars coming out over the next several years: https://karenable.com/21st-century-3-seaters-mclaren-speedtail-scg-004-the-gma-t-50/ as a reference.

I'm confused by your URL.

I think he's wondering why you call yourself Karen.
If you read the blog, you'd know:

About Karenable
Karenable is a term our children invented to decide if a hotel or restaurant would meet Mrs SSO’s (aka Karen) standards. When planning different trips and vacations, the kids often would take a look at the hotels and immediately give the different venues a 1-5 “Karenable” rating..

At least the Valkyrie exists as a car so that these problems can be found by testing. The T50 is currently a styling model, so who knows what will happen when the test mules are built and start to run.

While both Murray and Newey are great race car designers, only one of them has ever produced a road car before. This is the core of Valkyrie's problem. Newey designed something that is brilliant......on a track at speed......that is completely detached from any cost constraints............which means it needs a lot of work to get it to function on the road and in traffic plus engineering so it can be produced at a cost that doesn't lead to major losses on each car delivered. As a reference, Bugatti lost several million on each Veyron they sold.

The Bugatti was first and foremost a vanity project and not an engineering based one, and it's initial goals were just plucked out of the air. Did it need 1001ps? Probably not, but that was one of the targets stated at the launch presentation so the engineers had to work to make that happen. That necessitated the 10 odd radiators that had to added to keep things cool, which mucked up the aero and added weight. Another problem was that the car had to go through the same stress testing as all Volkswagen group cars, so whilst it might make sense to run a 1.0 Polo through repeated braking tests going from 90-10% of max speed it's a bit pointless for the Bugatti where even reaching max speed on most roads was almost impossible (I seem to remember that it dropped out of max speed mode if too much steering angle was applied). Again making this work just adds pointless cost and complexity, and substantial re-engineering through the life of the project.

@Lashout_UK , thanks for those links.

I think GM owns the patent on the seating arrangement so can build around that. Did notice the steering wheel looks very similar to current McLaren cars.

He doesn't. There are two other 3 seaters currently being sold, the McLaren Speedtail and the SCG 004S
