I can't see how they can repair the damage to that barrier in good time, several of the posts that are concreted into the ground are bent in half.

Edit: looks like they are just driven straight into the ground, so they should be able to do it quite quickly then.

I was sure he was gone, then the video of him in a ball of flames and manages to climb out after the impact whilst they douse the flames.

Absolutely not but nor would they normally hit them square on at such speed, they're expected to receive glancing blows

I mean, it survived and broke through the barrier. Disgraceful there are no tyres there.

It's on a straight, most tracks don't have tyres on the straight.

He's just cheated death, hanging up his gloves right now would be the best thing he could do, I'm sure his wife will agree.

What a simply amazing engineering feat to survive that horrendous impact/accident

I wasn't a Halo fan but I'm happy to be wrong today. It's saved Romain's life without a doubt.

Apparently he has broken ribs. I hope, if he wants to after that crash, that if he is still able to do his last two races in F1. I've always liked Romain from his Lotus days so it's sad seeing him go out like this and even more so after a crash like that

Very obviously not concreted in the way the forklift pulled the fence out, posts and all
