RYZEN 5000 SERIES NOW ONLINE - 5950X, 5900X, 5800X & 5600X COMING NOV 5TH AT 5PM **NO COMPETITORS**

Got my 5950x, hoping to get time to do the new build next week.

Is it safe to try POST without a cooler? Just want to do a quick outside the case build to check I've no dud components

Dont start with out a cooler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you can seriously damage the cpu and might even kill it.

Is my math correct, 500 5900x’s due this week or was the post about 200 units posted on the 26th already turned up ?

I believe the first 200 was shipped already (Friday / Saturday maybe?), and after those were shipped they sent out updated queue positions. Which leaves the 300 units turning up this week.

Not having stock is perfectly understandable to me - every store struggles with that. The communication part is severely lacking but maybe I would forgive that - new GPU/CPU is "nice to have" rather than "OMFG I NEED TO HAVE IT RIGHT NOW!!!".
Yeah, exactly. I'd much rather have clear communication of what is arriving, when it's arriving, and how much has been dispatched so that queue times can be estimated.

OCUK ordering from grey market sources at increased prices is their own business decision, and I'd rather be able to purchase at MSRP and wait in a standard queue than enable the artificial inflation of prices to satisfy grey market suppliers. We can now all be sure that this same supplier will aim to do the same thing for future releases, forcing retailers to go through them rather than the more direct official channels.

While I understand that there's other retailers I could purchase from, during the release drops you are left with the only real option of ordering from the first retailer where you're able to place an order. That's the only way to get the product to your door as fast as you can.

Last minute price changing, severely overcharged pre-orders - that has not only killed any "loyalty" I had to OCUK but made me "angry" at them to the point that I use other stores first and would only use OCUK as last resort.
100% agree with this, and based on speaking with others, I get the feeling that this is not an isolated opinion.

It's a shame. I think OCUK has made good steps in the past few years. Their customer support seems decent now, their shipping is fast, and I'm excited to see the new website (?) they've roadmapped for next year, but the pricing of release products, the product release experience, and the queue experience is very poor.

5950X Queue History...
05/11/20 - Ordered CPU
06/11/20 - Queue Position 306
13/11/20 - Queue Position 290
20/11/20 - Queue Position 277
27/11/20 - Queue Position 70
01/12/20 - Shipped

I did this once on a very old AMD, was over 20 years ago mind... Stuff started bubbling from the integrated heat sink on the chip. I would not recommend it (though I didn't fry it)
Yikes! Okay yeah that's all I needed to hear - no cooler, no go!

Yeah I think I'll just wait til I do the full build just in case. Doing my first custom loop so I'll want to take my time with it.

Ah yes thanks, I remember seeing the posts but I wasn’t sure if that was a previous lot.

looks like I’ll just miss out for mine before cyberpunk hits then.

Over 2000 CPUs largely 5600x is expected at Bolton on 21st Dec. If that is true it’s going to make a lot of people happy and busy over Christmas. Good excuses for people to say “sorry dear, virus is still out there, I am not going out or going to your mums for Christmas. You know just in case. I am staying in to check on news. Aka gaming!”

People are like mushrooms on here :) That price gouging occurred from day 1 not from when they realised their mouths were cashing checks that reality couldn't cash :P

Bet some people are feeling right idiots now - supporting what is nothing short of scalping and receiving their stuff after competitors are supplying their customers much faster and at a significantly reduced price...

Ok guys do you think paying £818 is too expensive for this 5950 processor as I can pre order it but looking at retail it is supposed to be £715 so do you think I should wait or are these low AMD retail prices just pie in the sky.

Phrase "too expensive" is very subjective. I haven't seen it for £715, £750 is a regular price in UK at least at this moment -anything above is "tax for people that MUST HAVE IT NOW!".
So £70 is a lot for some and nothing for others. For people buying such expensive CPU, £70 isn't probably life and death situation.
Just ask yourself, do you really need it like next day and do you want to support companies that conveniently abuse temporary low availability situation to overcharge their customers.
I would expect 5950x to be available somewhere in 2nd half of December if you're willing to look for it and quite easily available in January but that's just my educated guess.

You shouldn't be paying above the RRP. Simple as that.

I got my 5950X last week, I actually paid abit less then that the RRP and I didn't order on release. I waited.

I signed up for e-mail alerts from a high street chain. Now they're sending e-mails saying 'we don't have the product you were interested in but what about these 3XXX processors?'. I don't think they get how stock alerts work and why people want them :D

I have done the same and have had a mini heart attack each time I see they've sent me an email!!!
