Wow, Nvidia have banned Hardware Unboxed from receiving review samples...

At 4k please. Or at least 2K.

Uh yeah

Light range is a little mangled as I had HDR enabled with it.

EDIT: That is without any DLSS in play. With resolution scaling even my 3070 gets just about playable FPS at 4K without much noticeable drop in quality while moving though it is more noticeable if you stop and compare side by side though 1440p is much more playable.

there's only so long you can stick your head in the sand about tech like this and claim it's "just upscaling".

(it's at 4x zoom from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShHQkuU9W2A)

Doesn't that depend on what type of AA they use and it looks like the devs used some low quality AA to keep performance up at native res. Obviously they are using a better AA effect with the DLSS on since it is rendering at a lower resolution.

you see extra detail with dlss because the image comes from a baseline 16k capture back at HQ when the driver profile is made.

dlss isn't just upscaling it's also downscaling - downscaling from 16k to whatever the internal res is and then back up to your target res.

So yea it is upscaling let's say from 1080p to 1440p but the 1080p image is not just 1080p, it's 1080p after downscaled from 16k - the more detail in the base image the more detail you will have after upscaling to the output res, in this case 1440p

The shills out in force as always, good god you'd think buying a gpu was like buying into a ******* religion.

I always find this hilarious myself, like people who get raging about someone that supports a different football team haha. Dumb af.

Hardware unboxed is my go to because they cater more to people not paying 1000+ on a GPU and more performance for your cash... (Which is the majority btw) Therefore Ray tracing isn't all that important for most people. And even then most reviewers say the 3090 is a really stupid buy as it is compared to 3080 performance..

For people saying they are AMD bias, have you watched some of their recent videos?? They openly criticize both offerings in different areas.

Not only that I'm pretty sure they recomended the 1070/1080 over Vega at the time. And I think 2080 over Radeon 7

They've always been about frames per dollar. Their only bias is value. Both AMD and Nvidia fanboys have accused them of being shills for the other team.

Yep native looks best, but we’ll definitely need DLSS or AMDs version to get playable FPS with
Lots of RT in effect for now.

The question is what looks better vaseline smudging effect with better reflections and shadows or crystal clear high res? Also DLSS 2.0 ultra versus high/medium? Before you even get into more intricate tweeking.

I personally struggle to see much difference in ray traced scenes with it on/off on youtube comparisons of both. Cyberpunk, Watchdogs 3 and Metro Exodus all look amazing without ray tracing.
