So long as Perez is ~2-3 tenths behind Verstappen in qualifying by mid-season he should be OK. He's renowned for his race pace, but it's his consistency rather than his pace which is the key.

Given he'll probably have less than a day of pre-season testing he'll be lucky to get up to speed in the first half of the season, but if he's within ~30 seconds of Verstappen by the end of a race then on he'll be doing fine and exactly what Red Bull need - having someone who can be a fly in the ointment for Mercedes' strategists.
I can’t see Perez being anywhere near Verstappen in quali. He’s never been the fastest driver on a Saturday, so he will need to do his talking in the race.

It was inevitable that Albon would get dropped. He went 4 straight races with very little points (1 I believe?) in a car capable of 3rd or 4th in the right conditions.

0.2-0.3s behind is usually considered nowhere near though.
Indeed. 0.2 seconds behind over a lap doesn't sound like a lot. The Oz GP is 58 laps. 0.2 per lap is over 17 seconds behind. If Perez is 17 seconds behind Verstappen in Australia then he will have a mountain to climb for the rest of the season.

If he's 17 seconds behind in Australia then he'll have pretty much outdone Albon's peak results immediately and justified Red Bull's choice. Last season I think the closest Albon came to beating Verstappen was when Max pitted at the end (ie had enough space in front of his team-mate) in an attempt to get fastest lap. Most races I'd guess Albon was at least 30 seconds behind Verstappen (assuming both finished, safety car finishes weren't involved and so on).

Looks like Hamilton has his Sir title after being placed on the Diplomatic and Overseas List.

"But the sport honours committee did not believe this clinched the argument because Hamilton’s Monaco residency meant HMRC could not adequately vet his tax affairs — a prerequisite for all domestic awards."

Shame it won't be a British award after all.

Where's your proof that he doesn't. Seeing as the entire Merc F1 team is based in the UK.

He lives in Monaco for a reason. It's a tax haven with zero income tax. Why do you think this is, if he's 'one of the highest tax payers in the UK'

So again, where is the proof he pays all this tax???

Lord Hain looked into it before the nod for the honours list, he a said he's in the top 5000 net contributors to the UK Tax Revenue.
You do he has several residencies around the worlds for earnings like all F1 drivers do for earnings right?
Eevenbif this wasn't the case, how is it different for Jacky moving to Switzerland decades ago and still seen as an iconic British legend? Coluthard button Irvine, every football player? Why is Lewis being singled out.

Why is Lewis being singled out.

Dodging VAT on his toys perhaps :p

Edit - In all seriousness, if tax contribution is a prerequisite of being knighted and you don't meet that requirement, then so be it.
Although if outsiders can influence the whole process to bypass certain requirements, then it makes it all a bit pointless.

ahh let's hope so. Would be great if he's been contributing to the UK. Seems strange though, how come since the first moment he made it in F1 in 2007 he moved to Switzerland and Monaco. Unusual for that to happen at such a young age. I'm sure it's just a highly unusual coincidence. I look forward to Lewis perhaps publishing all his prior tax returns? I mean if he has paid a reasonable amount of tax, wouldn't you think someone who is so precious over his image could just make it nice and clear once and for all?
