Could it be, and no one will ever admit to it, they will find a myriad of other reasons to try and justify themselves, but some across as they object because he's black?

Ahh of course, it must be because he's black. Not allowed to criticise /challenge someone unless they're white otherwise it might be racist. Good one.

ahh let's hope so. Would be great if he's been contributing to the UK. Seems strange though, how come since the first moment he made it in F1 in 2007 he moved to Switzerland and Monaco. Unusual for that to happen at such a young age. I'm sure it's just a highly unusual coincidence. I look forward to Lewis perhaps publishing all his prior tax returns? I mean if he has paid a reasonable amount of tax, wouldn't you think someone who is so precious over his image could just make it nice and clear once and for all?

Why should have to do any such thing, and why him and only him? You have never answered this.
What about the 100 of others that are Sir? Patrick Steward lives in LA, when does he have to disclose all his finances? Conner wants nothing to do with the UK and had one. Why does Lewis come under attack and the billions of pounds lost from global companies that base in the UK and don't pay. Again why is Lewis under this scrutiny?

Think you need to quote the other person. They were the one implying any criticism of Lewis is down to being black. It seems pretty nonsense to me to imply such things, especially with zero basis for doing so. Wouldn't you agree?

Enough of the "He started it", this isn't a school playground. It's a general point.

We're not going down the race rabbit hole, this is a motorsport thread.

No-one even mentioned the likes of any other knighted persons, what do they have to do with this Lewis Hamilton story? They are from yesteryear and nothing to do with this.

It's not because he's black

Rather HMRC, supposedly, struggled to obtain enough history to determine if he met the requirement in time.

Either way, it's all a bit moot as outsiders have influenced the decision and ol' Boris has forced it through, so I'm not sure why everyone is getting their panties in a twist :p

So you are singling out Lewis Hamilton based on what then? Making up rules for him and not David Attenbough? Lewis Hamiltons story isn't the point, you are the one stating, from nothing, that he dosntn pay enough taxes, yet you're saying that no one else that has had this award should be judged the same way? By your own judgement, theirs many more that should be then stripped of them.

Umm Lewis is the one being discussed. Pretty sure last time I checked David Attenborough is not a F1 driver seeing as this is in Motors. Why would I randomly start talking about other people's knighthood's it has absolutely nothing to do with Hamilton or motorsport. The topic of Hamilton and his tax affairs had yet again been raised, all I wanted was just some evidence as to what the truth is. A pretty reasonable expectation given that they are tied together with knighthoods it would seem.

So it's just Knighthood handed out to people in motorsprt? I didn't realise they where different.

If you want to talk about other people's knighthoods outside of Motorsport then go start a thread on it in GD. I have no interest in it. Not sure why you are so defensive over Hamilton. Are people not allowed to challenge anything about Lewis? I thought these were discussion forums not fan boy sites.

If it was an award for motorsport only it would make some small sense. You are talking about an MBE that is for excellence in every field you can think of.
What you are challenging just doesn't only apply to motorsport people, but all those that have the same honour, whist being told some time ago its been investigated and and said he's in the stop contributors to the UK. For someone that has no interest in it you seem very offended about Hamilton getting one after winning 7 F1 championships.
Funny how when people claim they are having a discussion, get shown to be wrong then try and change the argument goalposts claim fanboyism.

christ, I give up. Congrats, you've bored me to death.

How it works is set out on gov.uk...

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-the-honours-system-works#probity-and-propriety-checks

The issue is that HMRC can't look at ALL of his tax affairs which makes sense because he doesn't live in the UK. They'll only see his UK income, not his worldwide income. I'm fairly sure these sorts of checks will have evolved over the years too. Not sure what else can be said on the subject as its a mute point anyway.

For that reason they have to pay Taxes all over the places they race in as well.

It’s not about how much was paid, it’s about how much they can see. The issue is that because he doesn’t live in the U.K., HMRC can only see his U.K. income/tax not his world wide income/tax. If he lived here they get to see the latter as he would be taxed on his world wide income here and it wouldn’t be a problem.

They can’t check what they can’t see (nor have any right to see), hence the overseas award. Problem solved.

Congratulations to him. I can’t see anyone beating what he achieved for some time, if ever and he hasn’t even finished yet.

all whilst not having an issue with the other British drivers who left these shores to live in Monaco or Switzerland for the same reasons.
