ASUS confirms ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card with 20GB memory

@Richdog not gonna quote your post as like you said grey matter and all that - waste of time. Nutshell (as we have danced around regardless of ignorance) if you have bought a 3080 already the 'upgrade' to a 3080Ti is not going to be massive - certainly not worth the extra £300+ you already have shelled out on with the AIB. As @Brazo has pointed out like previous Ti releases you got a much larger improvement (i.e. 2080>2080Ti). This is looking only like a price saving if you compare directly to the 3090. We shall see if the 50% more holds true, likely for the FE however I can only see AIB's pricing near to the 3090 i.e. your 5 months further down the line and saving a couple of hundred pounds - basic things that should be clear to anyone with a bit of common sense.

Again the circular argument goes back to the pointless upgrade really.

Yeah I think we are similar in opinion, that its a sidegrade if your lucky to have a 3080 and if your waiting it out as I am being clever getting the Ti for way cheaper than the 3090 your not really getting a good deal at all the only winner is nvidia..
Pretty sure you lot are all agreeing it’s not a lot more performance for quite a lot more money, stop arguing please :p

If you want to guarantee 4k 60FPS with Ultra settings in ALL games you need the flagship card... The 3090.

Hah, if only.

No, with Cyberpunk you need DLSS to run 4K Ultra with almost all bells and whistles and approach 60 fps, but you still need to drop resolution to achieve near 60 fps with Psycho settings. Horizon Zero Dawn runs at near ultra with a few drops under 60 fps. And even if a card came out at some point that can "guarantee" such performance, a new game (or a game mod, or configuraton file modification) will come along breaking this "guarantee".

Having everything at Ultra achieves not that much though. Like in Horizon Zero Dawn, Ultra clouds? Most of the time you're looking at the ground, so turning that down a notch gives you better frames for things you're actually looking at.

Upon the release of the 3080 and 3090 I said there would be a 3080 Ti due to there being enough of a CUDA core gap between the 3080 and 3090 but got told many times by certain members of the community "No there isn't any point in it" :D

The CUDA cores are the same between 3080ti and 3090 so they were right in that respect lol

Watchdogs free with my GPU.

Seeing London is really cool honestly. Runs like trash though terrible port/optimisation.

I think anyone holding out for a 3080Ti which is not even officially confirmed yet will be waiting a long time.

May as well cough up the £££ for a resold 3080 if you want to play games anytime soon. And with the current Steam Sale now is the best time.

We are probably going into a Marshal Law tier 5 lockdown because people can't stick to the rules and I don't see GPU supply meeting demand before June.

Resold 3080's are actually going up in price since I got mine from a particular website with colorful font letters. I had one reseller tell me they turned down a £1300 offer for a 3080 Strix.

Its looking like Feb and judging by recent history it could be weeks delayed or too many foaming mouths to feed. Hardly worth the 15% but the price is gonna be key. Just pre-empting the "asus confirms rog strix geforce rtx 4080" thread as that will be the next one baiting. ;)

I was there too and the venom was huge. :)

Just buy a 3080 and use that until the 3080ti arrives at your door :) Easy to sell on a 3080 when your 3080ti arrives.

With scalping and limited supplies they’re going to be the same price as a 3090 anyway, so why not just get a 3090 now instead of waiting for a 3080Ti?

Unless of course anyone thinks the 3080Ti will outperform a 3090, which seems unlikely IMO, but I’ve been wrong once before. :p

Would love to see some real data on the prices being paid for the non FE cards. By basing all the comparisons on the base price its not accurate what is being exchanged, the retailers also never have any in stock to log the prices of the AIB models.
