Nvidia may be preparing to release the RTX 3080 Super and RTX 3070 Super

The ti is obviously not aimed at you then. I personally wouldn't spend over £300 on a GPU. However, I can understand why somebody on a very high income would spend over £1000. It's all relative - you earn high, you spend high. You earn low, you spend low.

You seem to assume that people who refuse to buy overpriced products just lack the funds.

It seems Nvidia fans like to get bent over by Jensen regularly and jump at the chance to pay £1000 for a gpu that will be superceded in 6-8 months. It's their choice I guess but sadly it also affects all those who do not want to pay those silly prices.

I'm not saying that I have never wasted a lot of money. It just never occurs to me to take pride in doing so the way some people do when they get ripped off buying PC parts.

No I'm saying they lack the justification.

I could buy several 3090 GPUs if I wanted to, but based on my income, it would be freaking insane to waste it on such a depreciating asset. There's no way on earth I could justify it unless I was filthy rich. I won't be buying a 3080 either for the same reason.

It's the same with any expensive item. I buy cheap BIC pens instead of expensive Parker pens because I can't justify it based on my income. It's the same with most people. We have the cash for posh items but can't justify it.

Aye, at the minute the "bargains" to be had are 3070 for FAR more than a 3080-fe, 3080 for FAR more than a 3080-fe. and 3090 aib verging on titan rtx territory. 6800 for far more than a 6800xt and 6800xt for near 6900xt prices.

The founder and amd sold cards are sticking to their msrp but only sporadically appear, which is the situation across the board so people are just lubing up and biting down on the pillow hard.

On the contrary, I don’t plan on an upgrade for 3-4 years now I have my 3080 and 5950X.

what about all the Radeon VII owners who took a gaap for Dr Su - replaced with cheaper, higher performance in 5 months :p

Radeon vii was still faster than the 5700xt in more than a few games.
Aye had both for a long time and still have the Radeon VII.

5700 XT was better at 1080P and lower resolutions due to architectural improvements. More often than not, 5700 XT would win in this situation.

At 1440P and above, the Radeon VII was faster and sometimes a fair bit faster as there were enough pixels to saturate the 3840 shaders.

Overall the Radeon VII was a better GPU with twice the memory, but if you were only at 1080P or lower the 5700 XT made more sense overall.

It's 3090 owners that will be stung I think. The 3090 wasn't touted as a gaming card and has lots of VRAM. I wouldn't be surprised if the 3080 Super is as fast as the 3090 with less VRAM for significantly less money.

Is this 3080 Super what we were originally calling the 3080ti?

Given the marginal performance uplift over a 3080 (assuming the super variant has 3090 or less performance) then the term ‘super’ befits far better than ‘ti’.
