Oh damn. That looks great - so I would need the F18 module, the Persian gulf map and then I can just get that campaign module when it releases right? Is the supercarrier module required too?

Cheers for that!

Yep, just the F18 and the Gulf map are required. The supercarrier is optional- it will work if you have it, but if you do not than it will use the previous version of the carrier.

Thanks, had a play with one of the F18 training missions and it does look good...

I can see DCS is bit of a rabbit hole. I had a little play with some of the training missions on the P51 and P47 and they were awesome too - much more to learn than in IL2 where it’s quite easy to flick between aircraft, I can see you’d have to spend a decent amount of time learning the ins and outs of each.

Ideally I’d need a WW2 fighter, Normandy, an F18, Persian gulf, super carrier and that campaign you linked.... and someone to adopt the children and “entertain” the wife. Plus a new mortgage.

And that's just the starting point...
Goes downhill from there.

Ref the allied warbirds, some thoughts:
- Spitfire, a little tricky to land, easiest to fly, turns brilliantly, no real vices, not much ammo. Unfortunately the slowest and easily outpaced by the K4 and D9 as they're roughly two years newer
- P51. Fastest allied aircraft. Doesn't appreciate being asked to make hard turns. Overall the "easiest" of the allied aircraft to use
- P47. Fairly quick, doesn't turn well as it weighs more than your average London bus. Can take a LOT of punishment. VERY characterful and IMO the most engaging of the allied aircraft

@Mr_Sukebe cheers - yeah I quite liked the P-47... I think the spitfire I’d be more inclined to get the one coming out for MSFS and go cruising round the world in it. For DCS I’m torn between the mustang and the p-47... if I really need a warbird at all given I’ve got quite a lot of IL2 modules and scripted campaigns.

Did a few of the training missions for the F18 this evening, was good fun getting the knack of flying the approach accurately with the on speed AoA.

I think I’ll be picking up the F18 and Persian gulf ready for this rising squall campaign. Will be plenty to be getting on with... Maybe add a warbird and Normandy at the next sale if I buckle.

Cheers for the advice chaps.

Hi guys
Im newish to DCS i have the f18 and Raven one campain...Is there anyway to bind acknowledgement when your wingman talks to you? instead of using spacebar
I play in VR, so using a keyboard for button pressing is a pain I also have the Thrustmaster Warthog stick and throttle that i would like to bind this to

I also use VA. You can also map joystick button 4 (the pinky trigger) as a modifier and then use that with other buttons to replace other UI type controls. I use it to enable vr zoom and recentre on my stick.

About time I had some rudder pedals :D

What is everyones CPU usage when playing? I opened up my task manager and found that CPU 20%, GPU 96% RAM 88%

My specs are Ryzen 3600, 16 GB RAM Vega 56.

I finally bit the bullet and replaced my old Saitek G Pro Flight Rudder had it for a while but got fed up with the clonking clacking sounds it would make when I used it plus one of the springs broke in one of the pedals yes its a known problem. Had it since DCS released the the first module BlackShark so it had a good innings.

So I got myself a Thrustmaster tpr and I must say it is nice and quiet no clacking or clonking and so far so good.

Did a search on the forums and only found one major issue but it may have just been one off - snapped nut.

Took me a while to get one due to the present climate.

I take it everyone who has one is satisfied with it?

Another good patch update today. Plenty of fixes, some new functionality for a few aircraft including the Harrier, F18 and F14 and also a bunch of new campaigns.
Result!

How are you finding these peddals? I looking to purchase them when they are back in stock.

I’ve had some for a few years, great for Huey and build quality is good. However I do wish I’d bought some with toes brakes for warbirds. I’ve tried to work around it but it’s a pain. My advice get some with toe brakes.
