30xx Series Founders Edition

I shall be joining the party tomorrow.

I received a COD Cold War game code.

Do people know if I can sell this on the mm?

The instructions say install the card and redeem via the GeForce Experience app.

Yes but if the person doesn’t have a 3080/90 you’ll need to redeem it for them. They’ll need to give you access to their battle.net account temporarily.

People who own a 30 series card can redeem it. They may have had an earlier deal for another game when they purchased.

GeForce Experience checks if you’ve got a 3080 installed so it’s only good for somebody with one. Guess most got this free with theirs but some might not have.

The EK one is going to be so expensive. It does look gorgeous, but for the same price I could get the corsair and an Mp5works for the backplate.

Yeah but in my HTPC case, ideally want the ports at the end of the card to make life easier. So either the EK one or the Alphacool one but no confirmation if the alphacool one 3090FE comes with a I/O plate. Yeah expect EK one to be pricey am budgeting about £250 for it :o

Looks like the other place confirmed shipment of a 3080FE for me to test against the 6800XT.

Curious to see which I prefer over the course of the week / weekend

I managed to get a 3080fe the second the drop arrived on discord.

It took too long to let me log in... site was slow. Couldn’t get in for a couple of minutes by which time obviously all gone.

congrats on the win!

I wonder if the amount of “competition” on the discord apps is slowly reducing as people get the cards they want or if the new growth of people using them outpaces those dropping off.

I did a silly and bought the 3090 FE earlier today. Coming from a 3080 FE lol. Didn't think the 3080 was adequate enough for me at 4k so the slight boost is welcomed.

Fair enough! The Alphacool Eisblock has the ports at the end too in case you hadn't considered it, but I don't blame you for setting your sights on the EK.

The thermals are fantastic in my modest loop now it's under water, and I swear CP2077 is a lot less glitchy! I wonder if it's sensitive to VRAM temps. The backplate isn't getting anywhere near as hot as it was on the stock cooler, I'm debating returning the Mp5works cooler.

You clearly haven’t read any of that coverage otherwise your first point you will have realised is wrong.

Do you honestly believe MSI as a company (which is a massive organisation with a wide number of devisions and autonomous subsidiaries operating all over the world) had a scalp policy in place? I’d also suggest reading some non-sensationalist coverage of that too.

You are correct that they don’t need to raise the price £200-£300 and they haven’t. The supply chain is far more complex with retailers and distributors all adding their own margin on top a product before it gets to you. Just take here as an example, the cards were originally advertised at RRP and they just went up from there.

I’m sure they have been tinkering with prices but tinkering is a far cry from what we are seeing now. You can also get one directly from the AIB for RRP where they do direct sales. The irony of that last point is funny because here is one of the worst for jacking up the prices of in demand products. Exchange rates anyone :p.

Yet distributors and retails dont do the same on consoles and FE cards. We will go round in circles. Even if the gouging was all on the retailer, the AIB is complicit by allowing it.

For reference **** direct store sells a 3080 for within the price range I posted. :) Yes I did check before I posted.

I don't know what the AIBs are doing. But let's think about how MSRP works, or at least used to: the maker sets a base price, and then competition at retail usually drives the price down lower. So if retail can lower the price without maker involvement, then it can also raise it.

I don't know all the details, only someone working at a retailer would. But one issue is that shipping is getting more expensive, due to unprecedented demand. Brexit red tape may be a factor too. I suspect the AIB has limited influence in the price increases we're seeing.

Can I ask if you did anything to receive the code? I have a 3070 but did not receive anything or claimed anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
