30xx Series Founders Edition

My 3080FE has been despatched, delivery pre-12 tomorrow.

Can't fault the competition when it comes to getting orders through and sent.

;)

Sadly the competion is knocking the stuffing out of this place these days both in pricing, customer service and delivery times. My last 3 orders from here over the last 2 or 3 months have taken over a week before they've even shipped. Yet competition getting stuff out same day.

Enjoy your 3080 tomorrow

Likewise! Super impressed with the competitors service, not the first time either, way before covid, ordered a case from that place and a cpu cooler from ocuk, case arrived 2 days later and the cpu cooler from ocuk didn't arrive till after a week.......

I'm based in NI too and the same courier and postage type all the time, so clearly nothing to do with DPD but the etailer.

From the stock thread:

3080

Asus 3080 TUF - 1379 back orders (152 shipped so far)
Asus 3080 TUF OC - 625 back orders (513 shipped so far)
Asus 3080 Strix - 312 back orders - 8 overdue (7 shipped so far)
Asus 3080 Strix OC - 860 back orders (131 shipped so far)

The tuf oc being the card they got the most of, the back order numbers are mad.

Congrats on all that got their FE's today, I'm sure you will be even more pleased once they're up and running, remember to scroll through these forums if you have any niggles, I'm sure most of it has been covered (from bios updates to disabling CSM if need be)

For me the opposite, even if I manually enter my invoice number it says order does not exist on retailer site, yet its been dispatched.

Their system must be overwhelmed today. Even when I ordered a M2 drive last week from them the system didn't fully update till next morning.

Also got my dispatch emai late in the day but it did come through. wil need to move on a lightly used 3 day old 3070 as i had given up on the 3080 really and grabed one from a local shop thats so old im not sure it could support bots.

Also with the 3090 been much easier to get, should you change your mind it wont be too hard. Hopefully you manage to get a 3080.

To me it's nuts that people are paying over double the price for like 10% or so over the 3080 just because of availability. It's very suspect that the 3080 rarely comes into stock yet the higher priced card shows up almost like clockwork be it FE or AIB.

I think both amd and nvidia are playing it "cute" this time around with availability of these cards, just a little trickle now and then to keep the baying hounds appeased. Though AMD might need to get their their trickle checked by a Dr as it hasn't existed since last year.

Thinking about trying to snag a 3080 as the vram usage in BFv is really getting close to the edge. 7640mb

How is battlefield 5 playing on PC? I had it on PS4 but stopped playing a few months after release. Tempted to get it again though. I already own BF1 which I think had me more hooked.

Plays ok but it's got plenty of hackers doing the rounds and the usual Battlefield "feature" that means in a lot of games one team bends over and the other team goes to town on them winning by 400+ tickets.

vram allocated is not vram in use, the two are not the same thing and should not be conflated as being close to running out of vram. Games are normally programmed to grab as much vram as they can, it doesn’t mean they are actually using it. It’s a bit like how steam pre allocates hard drive space before the actual game download commenced.

You need proper developer level tools to see the actual vram in use.

I don't think this is so much and/or entirely AMD and nVidia (though AMD's supply seems oddly low) - I think there is a lot of messing about by AIBs and retailers to keep people paying for the higher priced stuff and artificially constricting supply of the run of the mill cards - which in some cases might even not exist so as to get people spending more money on cards. (As someone who has been in this game a long time the patterns are very odd even for a supply shortage situation).

For instance the 3070FE while in short supply has been available far more frequently than is likely if nVidia was significantly involved in manipulating the market.

I'm aware of that but in gameplay you can feel the difference and i was definitely feeling some chugging in some parts of that game.

I can deal with faster SKUs coming out eventually, but we are getting a little screwed on VRAM on the 60ti, 70 & 80. The 60 non-ti has 12GB (double what was anticipated) and that's how Nvidia will likely proceed from now on. that one will bug me (I mainly do video editing & fx, where more VRAM is better). And for games, if BFv is pushing 8GB now ...
