30xx Series Founders Edition

Plays ok but it's got plenty of hackers doing the rounds and the usual Battlefield "feature" that means in a lot of games one team bends over and the other team goes to town on them winning by 400+ tickets.

I'll maybe give it a swerve. I don't understand how these AAA companies can't implement a decent anti cheat system. I remember punkbuster being around in a few games a good few years back.

I don't think this is so much and/or entirely AMD and nVidia (though AMD's supply seems oddly low) - I think there is a lot of messing about by AIBs and retailers to keep people paying for the higher priced stuff and artificially constricting supply of the run of the mill cards - which in some cases might even not exist so as to get people spending more money on cards.

For instance the 3070FE while in short supply has been available far more frequently than is likely if nVidia was significantly involved in manipulating the market.

The 3070 was launched after the 3080 yet seems to be available far more often, the 3090 and 3070 show up like clockwork yet the 3080 always seems to be mia. Just seems a bit suspect that the card most enthusiasts seem to be gunning for is the one that rarely appears, so then people get bored and go for the 2x the price higher tier card.

In the owners threads there is 118 3080 owners with 34 FE cards and 134 3090 owners with 45 fe cards. Found that number surprising then after thinking about it not so much as people are getting fed up waiting and forking out the extra for the higher tier card.

Just dice being their usual half assed selves, everything is done via the "report system" that doesn't seem to do anything as cheaters continue to play for weeks on end after the report is filed.

3080 supply is quite odd - I know a small time SI type place that is still waiting on their supposed 3080 shipment from Oct last year (after their first shipment was effectively poached by a company I won't name) while they've had a few 3090s and 3070s.

Congrats on all that got their FE's today, I'm sure you will be even more pleased once they're up and running, remember to scroll through these forums if you have any niggles, I'm sure most of it has been covered (from bios updates to disabling CSM if need be)

I don't suppose you can elaborate and advise what we should be looking for. I'm a bit unsure of any possible issues I may run into.

You shouldn't really but some people are experiencing issues with 30 series cards when booting up after installation, getting 4 beeps but still posting fine, some reports of bios updates available for some motherboards to fix this issue but others just a simple change in bios to fix.

I think generally this may be for older generation motherboards, my Aorus Gaming 5 was bought in 2018 but after installation I was getting 4 beeps on boot, it booted fine and ran perfectly but I just had to pop into bios and disable a setting called CSM in boot settings, then on boot just the one beep.

CSM explanation quoted..
The Compatibility Support Module (CSM) is a component of the UEFI firmware that provides legacy BIOS compatibility by emulating a BIOS environment, allowing legacy operating systems and some option ROMs that do not support UEFI to still be used.

My Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite required a bios update for my 3090FE as it was doing two beeps on startup - a long one then a short one. If i turn off CSM then my bios screen goes all laggy, which I've seen other people report too.

A bit silly, really.

I just can't be arsed cancelling and re ordering the 500 quid of watercooling bits I've ordered, so they've got me this time, but I think I'll go elsewhere next time.
In fairness.....latest update.......was dispatched last night for delivery today. Still not great, but on its way at least

Has yours been sent out?

Shame i'm stuck at work today :( :p

Shame about work but great news. :) I've still not had a dispatch email from the shop but got a message from DPD that it will arrive at lunch time.

Its just a really crazy situation I've bought a 3060ti FE, 3070AIB and 3080 FE all at proper prices and there are still people waiting for cards bought in September. They must have patience of a saint.

Enjoy your FE's just share a thought for those who are still waiting. :)
