Not a huge fan of silver cars but Polos are in silver are really nice.

Have a regular white Polo that’s filthy currently.

Jealous that it’s a GTI and also that’s it’s clean.

Are those the original wheels?
Yeah original wheels it’s completely standard but the wheels do need refurbing.

The misses drives it to work and back everyday so I wanted to wait to see how she gets on, not spending money if she kerbs them.

Will be getting it remapped at some point this year hoping for 240+bhp or there abouts.

First time snow foam advice please? I've got a basic Nilfisk C110, and I've just had an in2Detailing Fat Boy Foam Lance delivered to go with it, after I randomly got a back in stock email from them about a year after I enquired! :D

I'll be using it with Bilt Hamber Auto Foam, and was just wondering how much to use for a half decent snow and effective clean, and any other advice please? Thank you.

You might need to see what panel impact ration you get at certain settings on the lance.

As mentioned you need to aim for 4% Panal impact ratio. I put a small amount maybe 200ml of water and same amount of auto foam. Spray it on your vehicle and adjust the snow foam Lance to something like an acceptable result. So leave your SF Lance set and fill it with a litre of water. Connect to pressure washer and spray into a bucket. Stop when the Lance bottle is empty. Measure how much liquid is in the bucket and multiply by .04 so as an example you end up with 12litres in the bucket. Multiply 12000 by .04 which will give you 480. Next time you mix the Auto Foam you need 480ml of AF and 520ml of water to make a litre. So long as you haven’t altered your Lance settings this will give you a 4% Panal impact ratio. BH Auto Foam isn’t the thickest foam on the vehicle but does work fairly well. I pressure wash the worst of the filth off my farm pickup then apply the auto foam. Leave it 10mins and pressure wash off though don’t let it dry on.

I’m fairly lazy, more so in winter and recently bought some Turtlewax Dry & Shine. On a freshly washed pickup I sprayed a bit on a couple of panals, wipe over the panel with a damp microfibres cloth to spread it about then pressure wash off. Paint feels coated and water beads and runs off really well. Don’t know how long it’ll last but easy to apply every wash this time of year. You don’t really need to wipe with the cloth but it does cut down how much you use. 2 or 3 squirts on a bonnet and spread with cloth as without cloth you tend to spray more to get the coverage. Not that expensive and I thought it did a really good job.

Thanks for the replies, I'll have a play on my next day off, assuming it's not frosty or pouring down! :)

I managed to get out and give the car a good wash and polish for the first time this year. It was a balmy 8 degrees so I took advantage. Sadly I noticed a crack along the bottom of the windscreen pretty much going the full width of the glass. Booked in for replacement. Ouch.

Thread needs more pics :D Bilt Hamber Auto Foam - love the stuff.

Does anyone on here run a pressure washer from a water butt?

Considering it for various reasons but wondering if it's feasible. Guessing it needs to be mounted a little higher than the pressure washer? What's the absolute minimum recommended size to get a car washed? Will aim to get a bigger one obviously so there's plenty left to water plants and for dryer days too.

I did it with a bucket and hose out of my spare bedroom window in this recent cold spell as my outdoor hose was frozen.

I use a Karcher K4 with a water butt, even though my water butt has a tap fitting I find it restricts the flow to much so I stick the pipe in the top, the K4 will suck it's own supply so the butt doesn't need to be higher than the washer.
