*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Damn petty good for anyone looking for a 3070 with the amount of stock thats available!

As long as you live in the UK... no scratch that, as long as you live in the right part of the uk.

The deal was that NI is still in the UK, but also still in the single market. But for some reason now we struggle to buy from either market, as lots of EU have stopped shipping, and now mainland are stopping shipping. Ah well, i'll just have to get one of the locally produced ones :p

Edit: I don't care about ocuk doing this for these gpu's as I already have a 3070, but UK mainland only is just a bit concerning if it's going to become a thing. Seems NI is being backlisted by everyone.

You will probably be in the next shipment of them that comes in, my guess is anyways that you will. Not as bad as a lot of us that are above like 400 and still waiting months from now.

I hope so, just need to wait and see. Sadly there is no mention of 3080 strix oc cards probably due to the low shipments.

To my fellow irishmen who are in the same boat as me who are popping up here and there, I created this thread on /r/ireland :https://www.reddit.com/r/ireland/comments/l0ll36/looking_for_info_on_import_duties_for_a_graphics/
By no meant an authority on the Brexit **** show that's a mere inconvenience to us, or import duties and all that, it does kind of point ( albeit word of mouth from those that have been through the system) to the fact that we've paid Irish VAT already, and that there are no import/customers duties on computer parts. The above quote also mentions that since OCUK is registered with revenue.ie, that we've paid the tax already. If we paid the tax, and import duties are sorted, then we should be good once or orders are no longer on hold. ( ordered 7th of Oct here, still 1000-1110 in the queue). Seems there is at least one brexit troll in the last few comments, ignore him, he cant get a self congratulating **** out of it, if you do. Might seem like a political comment, but its not really. I'm just trying to help out others who bought from OCUK as well, in a quandary, not of our making.

I checked Revenue. Computer components are subject to a 21% import duty, which is what others have had to pay on arrival. So add that to the price of any GPU you plan on ordering for the real cost.

There’s no special exemption for computer parts and I don’t think there ever was. Stuff for repairing computer systems is on a lower rate, but not exempt.

I may be mistaken here: the rates I found were VAT rates. It may be the case that Ireland won’t have to pay import duties on computer components originating outside of the EU. But, there have been users of this forum who’ve had to pay 21% in customs on arrival - this may be an error or may be legitimate. Just not sure at this stage.

Well Hey all...

Thought I'd say hello as I've just joined your long queue club.

Put in an order for the 3080 Strix on Tuesday so haven't actually got my queue position yet.. I'm guessing it's not going to be 12 though.

URL would be nice. I have found 0% duty for computer parts in money guide:
https://www.moneyguideireland.com/irish-customs-duty-on-uk-online-purchases.html

The rates I found were VAT rates. I’ve amended my post.

EDIT: Check the camera example in the link link here: https://www.revenue.ie/en/importing...nal-use/buying-goods-from-outside-the-eu.aspx

0% duty but VAT is still owed. I think purchases from OCUK would be similar. I’m not sure how tax would work on OCUKs end - would local VAT be charged for goods that are to be exported? @Gibbo any idea?

I am giving up.
7th in the 3080 Ventus queue for over a month.
Queue on hold due to DPD (who have actually resumed deliveries now).
Now I'm finding out that there's roughly 20% in import fees upon delivery even though there weren't really supposed to be extra fees. Frankly I don't think the card is worth that much. Especially considering I managed to grab a "in the meantime" 3070 before Cyberpunk 2077 release and it's actually a good enough card for my current needs.

I've been patiently waiting for over 4 months, but enough is enough. At this point I'll just give the next release a go, maybe it will be easier or go for 3080 Ti / super or whatever...

Unfortunately Brexit also means the end of buying from OcUK.

Smart decision imo, hopefully the world has its **** together when the 40 series launches :p

I think the reason you're on hold is so that OC and DPD can sort out that 21% VAT at import issue. I'm hoping there will be some clear information provided once the issue is resolved and all non-UK customers are taken off hold again. You do what you think you need to, because at this point there are several compelling reasons to pursue a refund, but if I was you I would at least hold off until then.

The charge is not VAT, you will not be charged VAT as OcUK are Irish VAT registered. But there are import fees that you can't get around on anything over €150.
