In a few mins you will have a chance to grab a 6800 or 3060Ti

What about people like me who have been OcUK customers since 1999 but don't post on the forums?

Would exclude me too which i'd not be too chuffed with as a customer for 10+ years.

Do the customer acct numbers run in order? Maybe a solution to open it up to the first 5k, then next and so on.

Cheapest 3070 was £650, compared to FE at £470. +£180 and same price as the 3080 FE.
Cheapest 3060 TI was £500, compared to FE at £370. +£130 and more than the 3070 FE.

Its a free market, and OCUK can sell these for what they like. But that doesn't stop it being a bad situation for consumers right now. Its a shame there are no consequences for it.

Given Gibbo is concerned about overselling, and also there is many of us who would like to see some kind of targeted sales at non scalpers, surely the solution is simple.

The website already has code that knows which accounts have XXX+ posts for the free delivery option.

Simply lock the order button to those accounts, it will still likely sell out, and reduces strain on the system, as well as making it easier for loyal members to get a gpu.

Am I missing something or is my idea good?

OCUK would gain good PR from this as well, as taking the lead in a proper system to limit selling of these cards.

As they explained over and over again (and Gibbo did not long ago as well) - their system isn't designed that way and it can't be done for the time being. They're working on a different system that possibly will allow more things like that to be done but time will tell. For the time being, it would seem, there's nothing they can do more than they're doing now. I am sure they went through many options and tried to figure out a good way but it is what it is.

It is a poor situation.... I have another 3060 on backorder, so I can upgrade my main PC, was planning to cancel and get a 3070 but really not worth the price difference now especially as the other 3060 is now looking like a good deal.

This was interesting https://www.igorslab.de/en/more-det...hic-cards-are-so-hard-to-buy-and-manufacture/

Appolgies if posted elsewhare, but he says almost all componets are in short supply, plus ample cash buyers locally in market at well over MSRP.

That said, looking at 2080Ti - that one rose above MSRP at the beginning and pretty much never dropped down in price till fully replaced by 3k series

The 2080Ti was available at £950 for several months, dipped under £900 a few times too. But apparently you would still have had to be insane to buy one.

(*looks around the current market and laughs maniacally*)

I might have been tempted at £100 over msrp but not £200+. Will wait it out. I'm reckon things will start to improve in the next couple of months as th eworld fully opens up again..

There are meant to be some reference boards for the xt for 680, not currently listed on the page though.

6800xt now appearing on that link but no "made by amd" cards in the Xt variant currently.

There won't be any. Only custom cards from now, the board partners refuse to make them or ship us any, no doubt again because they lose money on them.

Why? You said there was about a hundred of them in stock for the £680 price point?

You will need to be quick on those as surprise surprise the board partners stopped supplying them, no doubt because they make no money on them and we have like only 50 of each left and as they are the original stock the price will remain as it is, but I suspect they will sell out more or less instantly.
