• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

In a few mins you will have a chance to grab a 6800 or 3060Ti

Won't be doing anything for the next hour, as were totally unsure at the moment if the systems have halted or not, so leaving everything off sale until we know the true situation.

So get some work done guys at check back at 15:00

You know what I mean :p

If people didn't pay these prices in the first place, we wouldn't have "scalpers" and etailers/manufacturers wouldn't be sticking their prices up too.

And yup, prices/market won't return to normal anytime soon if people don't take action now, I suspect next year is when things will start to go back to normality unless crypto crashes hard again....

While you are right, it is just one of those things that happens, the correct price is the price people are willing to pay for the product. At the moment there is limited stock and high demand, prices will always go up, and when there is surplus stock and low demand prices will fall.

Everything is based on personal preference and situation, while for you it doesn't make financial sense to others it does. If you are willing to wait, then wait, but you can't begrudge people paying more for a card now, most of us accept the reality and know we are paying more for access to a card sooner...

I feel your pain. Same here.

I also have to pick my girl up from nursery at 3, so probably just tune in again at 3:04 and that's when they'll go live knowing the luck I've had with buying cards over the last couple of months

In other, short words - this is how free market works, which is what we have in here. Can't be upset with the market, really, we wanted it and voted for it over many generations. Though, they have identical problems in China now too with low supply and huge demand causing prices to go sky-high.
That said, looking at 2080Ti - that one rose above MSRP at the beginning and pretty much never dropped down in price till fully replaced by 3k series (and still holds that high price in many places even now!). With luxury products like that it often isn't even supply and demand but just what vendor thinks it should cost and then it never drops down.

Given the choice which 3060Ti would you choose and why? I really fancied a bog standard reference Nvidia 3060Ti but it's like trying to find the magical unicorn!

I'm camping the PC until I have to go to work like a few others but I'm beginning to get to a stage where any 3060Ti would do the job :D

I know Gibbo want well and he's trying but there's simply no stopping it. As Sparx said many times - this is open forums, any person or bot can read it even without account. It's very safe to assume bots are scanning it for links and no matter what Gibo does, it will instantly be reposted all over the internet. Sparx is the person who actually openly said what he does and why but removing him and his Discord won't change anything - it will still be posted all over the internet instantly and bots will still be all over any good GPU posted. Blame game helps nobody and it won't even make you feel any better, so there's no sense to it at all.

I don't think there's any good solution for that. Possibly just mentioned earlier raffle of sorts and let the dice decide who is "worthy" this time.

Given Gibbo is concerned about overselling, and also there is many of us who would like to see some kind of targeted sales at non scalpers, surely the solution is simple.

The website already has code that knows which accounts have XXX+ posts for the free delivery option.

Simply lock the order button to those accounts, it will still likely sell out, and reduces strain on the system, as well as making it easier for loyal members to get a gpu.

Am I missing something or is my idea good?

OCUK would gain good PR from this as well, as taking the lead in a proper system to limit selling of these cards.

What about people like me who have been OcUK customers since 1999 but don't post on the forums?

Our website cannot do this, we wanted to do this sometime ago, but for business accounts and it was not possible with the current infrastructure and IT systems.
