I think VR is probably the one of the few gaming use cases for the 3090 over any other card... that little extra perf can be the difference between a smooth and workable experience and an uncomfortable blurry and/or juddery one.
Still stupid money though!
Yeah, even a small percentage performance increase can make the difference between reprojection and smooth 90fps. This is far more important than 2D games as juddery framerates in VR can make you physically sick. And of course on the Index I can also go to 120hz or 144hz for less demanding games. Elite Dangerous in particular runs incredibly well.
The cooler design is so good that not only are GPU temps cooler than my 1080ti, but the CPU has dropped ten degrees too.
But it IS a stupid price. I'd have been happy with a 3080 (apart from niggling worries about VRAM) if they'd been readily available.
