Yup, even games these days are a farce. Can you picture back in 1999 a game needing a multi gigabyte patch? It's insane how bloated things have become. It seems broadband and cheaper storage just means that almost no effort is made at compressing anything, games getting released then needing gigs of patches as they were released early, drivers being a half gig plus in size etc. My hard drive in 1999 was a shade under 7 gigs, not even enough for a semi recent game install.
It’s a massive abuse of resources/lazy development. Most games tend to focus on pretty textures before functionality; a pity when people are spending £50+ for a compromised experience.
