*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Hi @Gibbo I have a question regarding the last couple of updates about MSI cards. On the 1st of Feb you said that 10 gaming X trio were expected, and yesterday you said that you’re still owed another 5 cards.
Are the 5 cards part of the 10 you were expecting on the 1 of Feb, or are these on top of the 10?
i am 9th place in Liverpool. and i haven't received my card yet
some others have been sent some 3080 Ventus roughly 5 cards in total.
they where expecting 10 and 5 have been sent out so that means that the 5 remaining haven't arrived yet.
so my prediction is that the 5 owed are part of the 10 that where expected to arrive.
The same logic goes for the gaming x trio

I'm 13th in queue for a Gaming X Trio...so close

@Gibbo if the below are outstanding, where are the 5 non OC strix?

We still have the following 3080's outstanding and owed to us:
8x Gigabyte 3080 Gaming
3x Gigabyte 3080 Master
4x Gigabyte 3080 Extreme
5x MSI 3080 Ventus 3X
5x MSI 3080 Gaming X

Hey @Gibbo, or anyone that knows - would it be possible to downgrade my order from a 3080 to a 3070? I ordered it an hour after launch and this wait is just ridiculous and Gigabyte don't seem to be improving their numbers anytime soon.

New ASIC coming out in July hashes 2,500 which is equal to 25 3080's. That's one small machine without the need to maintain multiple rigs with cards, motherboards, power supplies, etc. 2,500 Mh is also over €200 per day of ETH being mined. The risk with ASIC miners is that when their race is run in mining there is no resale. GPU farms can sell the cards to be used in pc's

How much is one of those new ASIC rigs? I though a major difference is that ASIC chips can be reprogrammed and are more flexible, and we know from recent years that a new race will come up again in the near future; so maybe not a huge risk, but I assume miners are very short sighted wrt business plan.

Looks like I'm back for some more fun...

My Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC that I received last week died on me last night whilst playing Jedi Fallen Order. PC blacked out and refused to POST.

Just submitted the RMA process to OC UK this afternoon. I'd cry at this point (original order placed on the 18th of Sept.) but at this point I'm just resigned to the fact I'm screwed for now lol.

@ OCUK Staff

Any chance we can get a new sticky tread for the shipping to ireland DPD / VAT issue.

No point swamping this tread with these questions.

The 3080 Ventus is situation is a becoming a huge joke; just 10 sent out in 3 months isn't enough. It doesn't matter if this is OCUK's fault or MSI's fault, it's pathetic regardless.

"We still have the following 3080's outstanding and owed to us:

Wait...does that mean they wasn't in the gigabyte shipment?
"A small amount of Gigabyte on the way:

5x Gigabyte Gaming 3080
3x Gigabyte Master 3080
4x Gigabyte Extreme 3080"

I acknowledge this is a dumb question, but what is the procedure for pre-order? Do you call sales and ask what's due in and choose a product that might arrive soon?

Even if you could pre-order, I wouldn't bother, better off trying your luck using a stock alert or something.

This really sucks. Not sure why the manufacturers don't come out with a bespoke product just suitable for mining.

Because, for them, it’s not financially worth it. Given that they’d have to spend so much on research & development, production and manufacturing, marketing, support etc. and when you take into consideration how many would actually BUY these machines, it’s not worth the cost.

Basically, if cost of investment doesn’t equal (way) less than cost of return, it’s not worth it.
