30xx Series Founders Edition

Interesting, not found any.

SmythsToys were doing pre-orders but stopped when they had reached a limit to ship existing orders from stock that landed recently, they may possibly open for pre-orders after 15th Feb as thats when they have shipped outstanding orders according to their website.

Why do people keep saying they are unable to buy GPUs at the moment? They are EASILY available, most for next day delivery. Just not at RRP due to demand because of everyone being at home, crypto mining and whatever else.
Either suck it up and pay the high demand price or wait until the market demand changes

There is very little available where you aren't paying £300+ on top of the price they should be to someone just because... most of the mainstream retailers have pretty much 0 available stock as well so you are generally left with less desirable sources.

On another note apparently nVidia has been in talks to get stuff running on older FinFet nodes which isn't inspiring for the higher end availability going forward - probably talking either something like a full spec GP104, TU116 or TU106 run or something - and even that will take awhile to appear.

When I was trying to get a 3080 I was willing to pay the premium but 3080s would literally go in seconds for £1k on normal retail websites. There is a shortage of cards even at absurdly high prices.

A month ago i picked up a new sealed 3080 for £1k. It now looks like they are on the up at £1300+ but im sure people still list them on local market place sites at around 1k. Just got to be quick or pay the premium for one at £1300+

I want a 3080, Founders Edition, if I cant get it at MSRP, then I'll just wait, I ain't paying OTT for a card, nor do I want an AIB as they tend to cost the same as what the next step up models MSRP sits at..

Remember when we were all joking saying that the AIB cards wouldn't shift at the prices that they were because NVidia had set the price so low with the Founders cards, now here we are with 3090's getting close to £2000, 3060Ti's going at close to MSRP for the 3080FE cards and suppliers holding stock for a week while prices go up and then releasing cards at inflated prices..

Is that why you're here, because you don't want an MSRP FE?

Getting on well with the 3060 Ti. Can't believe how small and quiet it is. While it's not the RGB fiesta that the 5700 XT Nitro+ was, I'm happy :D

No, im here because I had two preorders, these i eventually cancelled then bought one for over msrp which it’s much easier to do. Sure i would take one tomorrow for msrp.
If people state its impossible to get them, they are clearly wrong. Just look on big auction websites and local marketplaces

I do like the 30 60Ti, for the price, you just can't beat it tbh
It has a great price performance ratio (well, the FE does), and outperforms or matches almost every last gen GPU. The performance per watt is excellent (only beaten by the RX 6800 + XT at 4K). Plus DLSS.

It's a shame that it has a good hash rate too.

Guys, for LGA1151 motherboards, do only Z370/Z390 Chipset motherboards support DDR 4 RAM frequencies over 2666mhz?

I'm just weighing up upgrade options...

It looks like rocket lake chipsets will support 3200mhz, according to the Wikipedia LGA1200 webpage:
Memory support configuration common for all chipsets:

  • Dual channel
  • DDR4-3200 for 11th generation Rocket Lake Core i9/i7/i5 CPUs
I suppose Intel finally realises they are falling behind many AMD chipsets...

3200 Mhz is relatively easy for anything going back to z170 to run, so that will be 6th gen upwards. Difference is with each generation / platform, the native speeds increase (as well as Max when overclocked), so while 2666 Mhz on z170 would be considered overclocked which had a Native support speed of 2133Mhz, on z590 (rocket lake) it would not. the z370/z390 chipset and associated CPUs you would get on the platform like 8700k/9900k can indeed manage 3200 Mhz relatively easy.

If your looking at upgrading however really need to look at the CPU's and RAM package as a whole to see performance, this includes Ryzen rather then the RAM as a single factor.

The thing is, Z series motherboards are often 2x the cost of lower end chipsets, when all the customer may need is just faster RAM support, with no other bells and whistles.

On the other hand, Ryzen 5000 series CPUs can be paired with a cheap A520 chipset, some of these motherboards apparently support DDR4 frequencies up to 5000Mhz (O.C).

It looks like TSMC's N6 EUV process may be key to new AMD CPUs in 2021, and possibly even GPUs. Warhol / Zen 3+ processors based on this node may release this year, according to this article:
https://www.kitguru.net/components/cpu/joao-silva/amd-zen-3-zen-4-and-zen-5-details-begin-to-leak/

It's possible this will be the first AM5 / DDR5 platform, this would make sense because AMD needs something to compete with both Rocket Lake and Alder Lake (late Q4 or Q1 2022?). Also, the first modules of DDR5 have already been produced, so I think it's definitely doable.

I think I will wait until we have more news about the AM5 socket, before upgrading.

And thats the real problem bitcoin / flippers and scalpers not Gamers.

Not every gamer needs a high performance card and with the release of the Nvidia 3060 25th Feb and later for AMD 6700/6700XT it should help supply But it is miners who are prepared to pay the mark ups on Gpu`s and the more bitcoin go`s higher the more they will pay.

Unfortunately the 3060 and 6700 look like they will have very decent hashrates...so those will all be gone in an instant too.
