Your chances of getting a 3080fe in a drop on the Nvidia shop are about 0.01%.
3090’s tend to hang around for about half an hour.

I had huge buyers remorse getting mine but it's been great. It was the final push I needed to start mining when it's not in use. Wish I had done it sooner as 8 days in I am £60 in profit and no wasted energy as have cut the heating to my office.3090 most the time is hours when I brought mine it was there for about 6 hours easy maybe longer that was on the 11/1/21 was after a 3080FE from the start but always missed out and had carried on saving so missed out on that drop for a 3080 again and thought **** it got a 3090 no regrets

I looked at doing this, tried it for a few hours and to be fair it was chugging along nicely, but those GDDR6X chips got up to @ 104c even though the card temp was around 54°c, too toasty for my liking, but the performance was great.I had huge buyers remorse getting mine but it's been great. Only wish I had done it sooner. Oh for hindsite. I ditched the coins I mined back in week 1 as they were worthless and it was obviously going no where.
So long as no crashes in next 2.5 months I will have pulled back the 3090 premium and still have a great GPU. I would likely not have done it if I had got the 3080FE ....so it will save me money There is some man logic for you![]()
Yeah I would be seriously thinking about changing the thermals if the warranty wasn't at risk, it's a slippery road when you could have incompetent people trying to do the mod and messing it up then trying to RMA.With just cooling on my backplate I get 104-106 temps and it worries me too
I am torn, protect the card by fixing the pads but risk giving NV an excuse to weasel out of the warranty or push the card to the limit maybe affecting its life but know NV are forced to look after it for 3 years .
It is the mixed messages about warranty which bug me. It should be simple enough it's either ok or it isn't to replace the heatsink compound etc but NV make it hard (possibly deliberately)

Well its progressed from being into GRID computing and science projects to basically earning something for all the crunching power. In 2012 it just became GPU territory instead of CPU, so being an enthusiast gamer it was a no brainer to user powerful GPU's on mining to earn pocket money. People piping up about it (negatively) in 2017 and 2020 mining booms is beyond being late to the party so to speak!I decided it was bound to fail after mining a short period right at the start and so went back to the far more sensible..... SETI at home . In my defence I later did some folding at home which is maybe more beneficial than looking for alien radio.Well its progressed from being into GRID computing and science projects to basically earning something for all the crunching power.
