*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Okay this is a joke now... I know it Chinese New year but I feel like I would have had my card if overclockers didn't take more orders after the 3080 mess up... Like great you've cleared all those 3070s orders after we have been waiting months.... I feel like I understand why ocks have there profile pictures as gangsters kinda not a great look when they have Riped as many people of as they have lol.. thanks overclockers because of your greed I'm now 6 months without a work station broke as can be, basically I'm **** thanks overclockers, and if your response is cancle your order I wish I did when I still could have picked a Graphics card up at a reasonable price
I have made the mistake or personally atacking certain members of staff in the past but it's clear it's nothing to do with the individual but the company as a hole it's going to take many years to win back the trust of the people.. 6 months ago I had nothing but good things to say about overclockers I'm really hoping they can save their reputation before it's to late.
Maybe the fact they took so many orders is because they didn't realise that the situation would be this bad?

I think that is a fair point, BUT, shouldn't there have been some sort of cap on pre-orders? Go back to October on this thread and folk are confirming queue position 1800 on a TUF etc. Was it reasonable to take over £1m on one card? Easy to say in hindsight, but capping pre-orders at 100 per card in stages would have helped with customer expectations.

That's easy to say now. I can see 1 of the big UK distributors has over 2k 3080 on order, can't blame them that they haven't arrived or even been manufactured in such quantities. Everyone would love for this to have not happened, except scalers, but it's no unreasonable for OCUK to expect to order and receive hundreds of cards per week
.

Guess so, and this situation is unprecedented for sure.
I waited 6 weeks which is 'fair'. 6 months is unfair with the lifespan of Nvidia tech.

I was in the Eagle OC queue, having ordered about 4:30pm on the 17th Sept. After 2 months I realised I was going to be waiting over a year. I put 3 different orders in with other companies (who didn't take cash up front), and all 3 of them have delivered me a card. Obvs I cancelled my order from here a while back. Not OCUK's fault, but the distributors are clearly giving cards to everyone, and not concentrating on companies who have pre-orders outstanding, despite claims to the contrary from manufacturers. My advice is to see where you can order one from, and place several orders - it costs you nothing until your card is shipped, and requires little effort (I couldn't be bothered with sitting on stock alerts etc).
And no, I didn't scalp the cards, I sold each for what I paid to members of forums I frequent.
This is the worst launch of any product I can recall since buying my ZX81. I don't blame OCUK, but I think you might be in the wrong place if you want a card quickly. Good luck everyone, I really feel for you.

I’m sure a lot of us are in a kind of stand-off with our inner persistence now after waiting so long. I literally have had friends telling me that they’ve ordered cards, and received them within weeks of ordering. I’ve sat here thinking this horse is going to come good (after the ramp up Nov then Dec bs, another thing to keep people
Lingering) when it clearly won’t, for a further 3 months in my opinion which will be close the year you presumed. I don’t have the brain power for the part alerts, as they’re is always no stock when I click seconds after. Definitely the wrong place to wait for a card, but if I cancel now I feel I’ll never have the patience to wait for anything again

Don't cancel your current order, but got to be worth seeing if you can pre-order elsewhere too... I'm quite stubborn, but just had to get a little realistic!

Still waiting for a glimmer of hope Palit will send some cards. My number is low enough one delivery of about 16 card’s would do it. I just bought a monitor for it too.

If Nvidea are restricting cryptocurrency mining on the 3060, I wish they did that to the other cards...they may not buy them up so quick.

These new 'restricted' cards won't make the slightest bit of difference though. The miners are still going to buy as many 3060ti, 3070 & 3080 cards as they can get their hands on whilst the running is good, so there will be a shortage of cards for gamers for a long time to come. It won't take them long to bypass any restrictions Nvidia put up, there are too many clever people out there to help find a way around it.

No doubt someone will be leaving Nvidia to work for a mining outfit, at a greatly increase pay packet, to help bypass restrictions they themselves helped to put in place. Industrial espionage at its finest.

Thing is this restriction wont last, I bet it will be hacked in a few days once miners get their hands on. Could even be done on day one.
agreed

Oh really, well there you go, even when they try to restrict it, its impossible to stop it.
its easy to hack. im sure they will do it.

Weird, when I checked the metadata for the image of the mining rig it comes back to an industrial estate in Newcastle-under-Lyme, just off the A34? :D
wouldnt surprises me :D

I have kinda explained this a few times before but I'll give you the quick bullet points

* Cards launched at 2pm with cards on "pre-order"

* Website load many, many times more than ever experienced before crashed our website gateway, the thing solely responsible for allowing us to change things, see orders etc.

* Web traffic volumes remained high all evening and we couldn't do anything for hours. On our side it looked as though the website had crashed and no orders were able to be made. Our internal software showed orders in the tens for some lines and absolutely nothing more many others. We didn't receive a single order for any product from about ten past 2 until the early hours of the morning. In fact, around 7pm, Gibbo and I were discussing what we were going to do about selling the cards that we had in stock already since every bit of data that we had suggested that we weren't able to take orders and we still weren't aware of the volume of demand.

* Our IT team had to pull an all-nighter to recover the gateway, at which point orders started to download from the website. This was around 3am and orders were still being downloaded at 9am next morning.

* The next morning we were met with nearly 9000 orders, most of which were on just a few lines. Those traditionally popular lines such as Strix and those lines which we stupidly launched at MSRP, TUF, Eagle, Ventus etc (following manufacturers offering back end support to meet the BS price)

* Said manufacturers have since refused to support the price on all of those orders which means that we're losing money on them. Which is why we're no longer going to play ball in the BS launch pricing game.

* Worst case predictions from manufacturers during the days after launch was that these 9000 orders would be cleared by Christmas...and we all know how accurate that was.

* Cards launched at 2pm with cards on "pre-order"
although i accept that your site crashed i don't think all the above quote is correct !. i for one was ecstatic that i had managed to buy a card and it was not until after the invoice arrived that i found out that it was for pre order . there in no mention any where on the invoice that it was a back order just that there may be a delay because of the demand. otherwise why would people be paying for next day delivery on something that was weeks away from delivery?. .
