3060ti prices vs 3070

Arrhh, I struggle to read posts where people use "brought" instead of "bought", it boils my blood

Back to the topic though, paying scalper prices is only worth it for a gamer if you plan to mine on the side... If you can mine to recoup the extra you paid (doesn't have to be the full price of the card) then it is worth it. 3060TI costing more than the 3070 is a bit silly though because the 3070 can be undervolted to match the power consumption of the 3060TI. When it comes to selling the cards in the future the 3070 will also be worth more
Lol tbf I never realised I was spelling it wrong bad habit I guess. English has never been my favourite subject specifically gramma which is something I’ve always struggled with, but I guess it doesn’t bother me as long people understand what I’m trying to say, which they do most of time :).

Yes you can offset the price by mining but I’m stubborn I just wouldn’t pay those prices. If it wasn’t for my nephew needing my old card for his first gaming rig (god help him) I would have sat on what I had.

Lol, it's cool man :D

Pretty sure the mining bubble will burst again soon as it did 3 years ago, then prices can start lowering and there will be a lot of 2nd hand cards on the table :)

Got mad getting my 3070 from OC for £540 on release, now feeling thankful...... wait a minute?!

:)

On the point above, it will be interesting to see how it goes, I mean, so much of a shortage that prices might remain semi-strong as people bag what they can as they have been waiting so long when miners begin to sell off assets

I know it won’t happen but ...

let me believe in the GPU piñata !

£560 for 3070 is a bargain mate. Every one that I have been watching in discord has been £650 or more. Some are coming out of the shop at £800-£850. Talking about gouging.

Is it from the Indian place?

Had a friend that bought an MSI gaming trio 3070 for 539. It's the price they should be. It's just retailers are now taking advantage of people desperate for new cards etc.

ya any 3070 cards with 3 fans are automatically £700-750 any RGB or decent OC version are coming 800-850 from the shops.

Forget scalpers on auction sites, the retailers are massively profitting on each sale. they are making up their margins by taking an absolute HUGE chunk on a relatively small volumn of sales.

Tbf to retailers it's not great no but they'd much rather be selling in the hundreds of units at normal margin instead of the odd 10 or so at a high one!

I think is why they are hike prices like there s no tomorrow.

however doesn’t excuse retailers for selling zen3 CPUs in the tens of thousands units for a +20% margin over MSRP. OCUK has said it has ordered and sold tens of thousands of zen3 cpu since launch and their pricing has never even come close to MSRP. - 5800x is £459 from OCUK right now. Highest its ever been yet best availability as well.

Thats OCUK though....nothing new there. Not all retailers are doing that, in fact some have the new chips in with their discount promos of which their have been several over the past few months. Good sellers are out there and you dont have to look that hard.

Will there be an exodus to consoles? I mentioned in the 3060 (which I was looking at) that pc gaming is just not worth it for me anymore. I just can't justify the upgrade cost.

It's already started, I'm currently transitioning to consoles + laptop from desktop. There's quite a few over in the console section that have given up on PC.

Now that the new consoles are giving 60fps options to the games i have little interest in the PC either. A laptop would be powerful enough to cover the odd PC game and back catalogue that's left.

I believe Sony have already stated they're not going to meet PS5 demand for some time and I'm sure that goes for the Xbox Series X as well. People may want to move to consoles, but the situation isn't much better.

There were cards available this morning for £560 in a couple of places.

However you had to get there within 3 seconds to get one.

Thankfully I was lucky as I've now managed to secure both the new consoles since their launch and at least the prices remain at msrp at retailers unlike PC parts which just keep going up and up.

Except Nvidia will now be making more mining only cards which cannot be used for gaming at the cost of making less gaming cards. When the times comes for the bubble to burst instead of the 2nd hand market being flooded with 3060/3070 etc, it would instead be whole bunch of mining cards going straight to e-waste.

The whole Nvidia cutting the hash rate for mining on the gaming cards is not really for the sake of the gamers, but to push the miners toward the cheaply made mining cards without display output while making fewer gaming cards. When even Linus (raging Nvidia fanboy for years) is calling Nvidia out on this, you know the situation is bad.

Nvidia don't want the repeat of people buying 2nd hand 10 series instead of new 20 series, which is why they are doing this.
