todays price hike on 30 series stuff?

Bagging a 3090FE at £1399 in the last drop is starting to feel 'ok' to me now. Not saying I had/ have buyer's remorse or anything, but it was a bit of a **** it response to the 3080 impossibility

That is pretty much turning out to be a bargain. In fact all the FE prices are bargains if you were lucky enough to get them first hand.

I'm in the same position with a 1070, to be fair though it's been an absolute star though so I'm sure it'll keep going. I'd say it's probably been my best GPU.

yeah been a great card went from a 670 to it, was looking at a 3080 for my next upgrade but the way things are going no chance this year. i doubt we will see rrp for christmas. so 4000 series maybe the next one for me.

The easy way to judge if the truth is being told about MSRP's going up is monitor the prices from the UK largest high street electrical retailer, as they sell at MSRP and no higher. So when you see their prices go up then the cost price has gone up. ;)

I have certainly seen them go up, e.g. Gigabyte AORUS GeForce RTX 3060 Ti MASTER, was £470 at launch. Last I looked it was £520. Cannot get in at the moment to check as I am 73621 in the waiting list to enter the site. i suspect that the 3060 launch caused it problems

That is some queue number!

Do you need the PC case to be physically by where you are sat? In a workplace I'd usually expect them to be in a cooled rack or room. Keyboard mouse and display can be many meters away from desktops.

Yes they need to be by the desk sadly, because equipment gets plugged in and out of them all the time.

I hope that's a typo or you'll be getting your Bus Pass before the card.

It does indeed but sheesh, that shows us how out of control pricing has got. Those 3090s are more than what I paid for my current banger of a car :D
All my cars bar my latest have cost less than that. I’m one of the lucky ones that brought just after the 3070 was launched but if I was still looking I would have give up weeks ago. I’ll make what I’ve got last me for as long as possible, if the situation is still the same when I come to upgrade I’ll pack it in. I absolutely hate paying over the odds and will sooner cut my whole head off to spite my face.

So you shopped in the same car market as me :D

Yeah, I've given up looking for now. Maybe in a couple of months things look a bit different, but maybe not. I'll carry on with my old banger 2080 :D

graphic card pricing got out of hand last generation, it's worse now. my rule of thumb has been to pay 60-80% of a current gen console price on a card. even at MSRP that will get you a potato currently.

All this mining talk is not true! Rtx 3060 released today and the card can't even mine, yet it sold out in 2 minutes. There is more at play here:o

It can mine , they were nerfed only for ethereum, but there are other coins people are mining and also it only nerfs it by 50% for ethereum, so still profitable.

Also yes I agree there are other things at play, it's called gamers and people needing a cheap gpu, remember the 60's range are the most popular range for the average user of GPUs for gaming, just to produce a display on systems with no IGPU and work.

This whole mining thing is just nuts to me and sooner it ends the better but again it may not and become the new reality of life. We can only hope it dies a terrible death and no one ever tries to bring any form of this back again.

How funny would it be if people started scamming the scalpers. Buy the gpu for silly money keep it and use it for a few months then send them back a faulty card for a full refund :D.
