Rate my paving layout :)

After a few delays for a number of reasons it looks like the patio will be starting next week - yay!

As we are extending / repairing the the existing base I'm just getting them to add 100mm into the length to avoid any cuts !

I'm going to shift the stone round from the front of the house into the back garden over the weekend and have "drawn up" (Excel) the final design from the cardboard cutouts design

Fingers crossed :D

Ah come on fella. First post was 7th of March, I was expecting your post this morning was to show it is laid and sorted :p

Lol, you sound like my Mrs :D:p

As I said, had the guys lined up, ordered the stone then they were delayed, Easter, we then have had builders start and the guys doing the patio were restricted with access so agreed to wait until the brickies had done.

Up to wall plate now and just the roofers on site next week so a bit quieter / easier access. I'm paying them (the patio guys) day rate so should save myself a few quid by moving the stone and get a decent workout at the same time (i.e. likely half kill myself ) :p

I don't like how all the smaller slabs are centred in the middle rather than being randomly mixed throughout the space.

We did a few designs and weren't so keen on the more random designs. We intend to put a gazebo on there at some point so need / wanted the larger stone at the corners and middle of the longer edges to take the posts. As it's going to be a "feature" also wanted a "pattern" of sorts in the middle. Combine those with no + joints or long runs of joints and the size of the patio we decided on the design above :)

After a short ride on this thread I think we're going to be replacing our patio slabs!

Lol, save yourself an Amazon box :D

Drop him off, come home and lay patio, go back and pick him up. Don't see a problem, lol

Her actually :p and I'm quite happy for an hour off

Lol :p

So 31 trips back and forth and about 2 hours of heavy lifting they've gone from packaged and crated on the front drive

I won't lie, I knackered

Are you doing this all yourself? Be doing ours and interested in what you're doing for the base and pointing

Lol, no, I've definately "done" on this project now :D

Got two guys coming Monday to extend the existing base where the old shed was and then lay these.

As I'm paying them a day rate by moving them myself (apart from pricing to myself I could :D) I've saved myself a few quid - will post progress and completion pics though :)

Sorry should have read further up haha :D

Hope it all goes well. I'm going to be laying the base and getting the muck up, then may end up laying myself that this rate

Lol, no probs :D

I've only ever laid one patio before, a long time ago and it was a lot simpler and smaller than this but distinctly remember thinking never again :p

Good luck with yours too and let us know how you get on ;)

Will do, may do a thread to go with the pergola one :p

We're the same, the patio is going to be 22m2, then a path at 6m2 and outside the back door a out the same, just want the patio doing first! Asked a friend but sometime it feels like he's not wanting to do it

Almost there - various reasons (the weather, bank holiday and the layers attending a funeral) it has been delayed but al slabs now laid

Some finishing touches, grouting and sealing and were about there.

Can then look at the ground level / planting up to and around the patio as well as a path up to it

Then see how the extension pans out whether we get the pergola this year or next ....
