*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

I ordered a MSI gaming x trio 3080 card in September and held out hope that I would get one eventually. Now on my Birthday I get told that my card will never come and I will be refunded but with no way to change what card I order and no priority on buying any other cards. :) :) :) I don't care if it's 'not OCUK's fault' I'm not coming here again. Hope you all get your cards soon and have a good weekend!

How did you get your VAT refunded? I'm in Ireland also. And yes I have been getting queue update emails regularly apart from a couple of weeks where the lads were on leave...
If you go to customer service you can send a message with your order number and get it swapped over and tax refunded

Ya it sucks that MSI are pricks and quit on the card you ordered but you can’t seriously expect them to upgrade you to other cards or put you in another queue when other people are waiting in those queues for as long or longer than you, like gibbo said to upgrade people now isn’t gonna work for them as they can make a lose of 200-300.

From that article:
The shortage of video cards and the excessively high prices for them are due to several factors at once. On the one hand, there is a global semiconductor shortage that has hit all chip-dependent industries. On the other hand, many high-end video cards are bought by miners when they hit the market.

I understand supply/demand, and the shortage of semiconductors has resulted in increased retail prices, though I'm certain that is 100% greed, because I'm confident that staff are not being paid more, oil prices have not gone up... so operating costs should not have increased inherently.

Miners buying cards are not a valid reason for retail prices to increase... again, 100% greed and screwing customers. FE cards still selling at original rrp... are Nvidia taking a loss or just making less profit than AIB partners? I think the AIB partners are milking for current market situation as hard as they can.

NVIDIA profit margins are easy to see online from their financial reports, they tend to sit around 65%

A board partner I believe will tend to make 8-12% margin.
A distribution partner will tend to make 3-7% margin.
A reseller will tend to make 5-15% margin.
*All the above is during normal times when stock is plentiful.

It is fair to say NVIDIA's product margins are no doubt un-changed or a little lower, but it is fair to say the rest of the chain has not maintained margins and I suspect have all added a few percent, but in fairness it will be just that a few percent and will still be making less than NVIDIA, the fact is cost prices have increased considerably which cannot be swallowed when operating on low margins. NVIDIA being the number one in the chain has the biggest margin so they can soak up cost increases, but the rest of the chain operate on a smaller margin as such they cannot soak up price increases and as such they increase the price to cover both cost increases and the fact they are not operating at full capacity.

Asus themselves made a public announcement stating the prices would be going up around 25%, other partners also all put their prices up a similar amount, but never stated it publicly, then factor in supply and demand shortages and of course both distribution and resellers are making more margin, but you can hardly blame them when they operate on slim margins and are also shipping back orders at considerable losses.

Remember the board partners cannot get the supply of stock they need, so they cannot run at full production capacity, that means they either lay of staff or make other sacrifices or they somehow cover those losses, of course they pick the latter and to cover the lack of production they have to increase the cost. If they did not do that they either downsize or they risk going bump. Fact is they can increase the cost and still sell everything ten times over.

Not to attack your comments, but I think you're overlooking the fact that for ABIs they may well be set up to make cards but due to shortages of either the dies from Nvidia or other components they can't run at full capacity, I'm willing to bet that the overheads to run a factory aren't gonna shrink by much if it's running at less than the capacity you'd planed your margins on. Plus we've had issues with capacitor supply not just silicon so I'm sure there's a chance of having to source new parts at different prices.

As for the FE cards Nvidia does makes them at a lower margin, they don't need to profit off selling to themselves. Plus they may well be willing to eat the cost of rising parts or increased impact of overhead as they are most certainly still making money selling to ABIs. The long and short of it is if Nvidia can make X FE a month I'd be shocked if they weren't making sure they keep their production at capacity while leaving ABIs in the lurch.

I'm not expecting a free upgrade. I just want an option to pay more for a different card but with priority for it. They also know everyone's order date and time. Put me in Q in the position I would've been at had I ordered that card at that time. I don't think that's unreasonable at all.

I mean I guess that would be fair but just imagine how it would feel for people in a queue for say the TUF OC and a majority goes for that queue and then your flung back another 100 places

And people below you in the queue you're jumping into would be rightly annoyed.

You haven't got a right to queue jump just because you unluckily chose the wrong card.

Imagine how it feels for me and hundreds of others anyway? I could've gone with somewhere else and been shopping around waiting for an opportunity to buy a card when it comes in stock as many have. Instead I sat back and waited 7months just to be told to go f myself. If someone gets pushed back 100 places that means 100 people were waiting even longer than them. Atleast they still have a Q position. I got nothing.

Yeah they would be annoyed. But you forget that I have waited 7months and left with nothing. I don't know why you value other peoples feelings over someone elses. Like can you admit that I got shafted and that's not fair either?

Yes and no, there are loads of people who bought day 1 and still don’t have there cards so if you were to be put in front of them you still waited the same time as them but maybe have ordered only a mere minute before them.

Mate I'm in the same boat as you, day 1 trio order, and my Bday was last week lol.... I passed up so many cards in October / November because of the promise of "ramping up" and my 'secured' queue position. I need this for work too, so it's affecting my business.

But you're wasting your time here - no one gives a stuff., not least the others who haven't yet been cancelled. Seems to me they'll be glad to see the back of us tbh. Take my advice and get your money back, leave this place for good and go buy something nice with the money. Just ordered myself a 34 inch ultragear that will be here for Sunday for a little more than the 3080 price - certainly took the sting out of it for me.

I didn't buy day one I bought like 10 days later. Even if I'm set back like 48hrs I would be happy. i don't want to be put ahead of everyone. I just want some recognition for my 7months of waiting.

Yeah I'm just upset and needed to vent I guess :P Just sucks that I get told this on my actual Birthday like???? what are the odds? I wish everyone luck in their quest for a card.

I feel like the best thing they can do is offer a 3080 from some queue when it’s backorders are fulfilled and give you guys first pick but then again that’s gonna be ages away

I literally just got money in bank from OCUK. Since I wasn't on this forum I had no idea what that was for, so I had to dig around to figure out what is going on without calling OCUK. Maybe it wouldn't be bad idea if they gave heads up somehow to people when they do something like that, either on their webpage or on the update thread Gibbo makes.

It is weird, cause I got my VAT refund on 22nd March, but still no queue number updates. I hope I might get one today. If not, who do I have to contact to check that?

That's why I said "unluckily". The people who bought the Tuf card had no idea the Tuf OC would have much better deliveries.

I believe there'll be more queues going the same way. This isn't going to end well.

I was just chatting to support, the caveat with claiming the VAT back is you will be charged for import fees when it's shipped so I don't know if it would amount to the same or what?
