*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

I'm fifty seven now and agree totally with the last few posts! wish I could go back and slap some sense into my younger self, could have made life a lot easier for myself! possibly avoided the bad mistakes I made, which I did, happy now though and very contented with life, apart from the lack of a Asus tuf 3080 oc !:p

The thing is we generally really only learn from our mistakes (at least the non-fatal ones), e.g. food goes in the mouth, not up the nose or in the ears. So if you didn't have those whoops moments, you might not be the same person you are now. Funny how philosophical a GPU queue thread can become... :);)

However, there's definitely some choice advice I'd give my younger self on some short cuts to those lessons!

so true, just a very long learning curve! mostly smooth but with occasional very bumpy rides in between, believe me I've had a few nasty bumps! but all good now. getting philosophically stupid now so will stop!!

I managed to get a 3060 from a competitor, which is nice stopgap until I have the email saying my card is EOL.

I would like to think that Nvidia would offer free upgrades from 3080 to 3080ti if the base card is discontinued, but I live in a fantasy land that my therapist is trying to get me away from :D

I'v been in a queue for a 3080 since September..given the situation and somone saying that the 3080 is going to be discontinued, would it be better to try and preorder or buy a 3080ti on release at this point?

so been waiting since launch day still at 103 just wondered if there is no way to change a 3080 to another one is there a way to do a downgrade to a 3070 if they are in better supply, as at this point would be happy with a 3070 of any brand.

Just leave the existing order in place, then F5 spam the site on launch day in the hope of getting in before the bot army. If you get one, cancel the 3080 order; if not, you can go back to hoping one will materialise this decade. :D

On OCUK website I can see 30xx prices on my phone but not on pc, any reason for this?

Not tried mobile recently, but if you add any GPU with no price to your Wishlist, you can see the price when you view the list.

That's depressing, I'm about a hundred places higher in the TUF non-OC queue, moving at about the same rate. If you extrapolate onwards, it's ETA is next Jan! Edit - I removed all the pre-glacier updates before early Feb.

They originally said anyone over 100 in queue should cancel, then they changed that to any over 50... I can understand why :(

Yep, but I'd be daft to cancel if there's the slightest chance of success after 7 months wait - not like I can get another one at the same price elsewhere.
In the meantime I'll see if I can get a 3090 at the new insanity-pepper pricing..;)

Begs the question if 3080's are now 50% more expensive from suppliers (?) market forces are consigning 'bargain' pre-orders to the history books?

i changed over last month from a palit 3080 to a gigabyte 3080 from OC. I had to pay the extra fees though since the gigabyte card was £350 more than the palit one. May be worthwhile to downgrade to a 3070 they may have stock I’m not sure, since 3080 queue is worse than the 3070 queue. 3070 is still a great card, only reason I bought a 3080 is because my monitor is 4K 144hz so it would make sense for me to get a 3080, but for you I assume you have a 1440p 144hz or something like that in which a 3070 May be worth considering. It doesn’t hurt to ask OC via email, and if they don’t have any 3070’s then oh well. You don’t ask, you don’t get.
