A call for Help please if i may.

lets assume for a minute your cards broken
your original post has a very generic title
perhaps a new post titled something that specifically
catches the eye of someone browsing the forums perhaps?
i dont know,something like
any electronic engineers in here?
any one able to do pcb level diagnostics and repair?

.......Another thing I came across was a report saying Nvidia had a lot of RTX2080 range just suddenly dying for no reason??
but who knows...not me, oh well I'll just have to revert to staring out the window and watching people go by.

Have a nice day
Regards
John

If it was you who suggested the cooler was fitted, I think you may be out of luck. If it was the company, that is different.

I would write a short, polite and terse letter, pointing out the issue and providing proof that the company fitted the cooler and politely ask for a repair or replacement.

If it was me, while waiting for the reply, I would take the card to a rival computer store explain the issue and ask if they could identify what the issue with the card was, i.e. could it have been caused by improperly fitting the new cooler? Is the cooler fitted properly?

Worth having an outside party having a look, you could ask them if they would put the findings in writing, which you could then c.c. to the company, if their is an issue (wait for the first response in writing first).

Put things in writing, keep it as short as possible, be polite. Basically say as little as you have to, clarity is helpful, both in the short term and longer term if you make a claim in the small court.

few of us can, unfortunately i live to fare, and i will not take posting on 1k card.

The letter states that the retailer is in breach of contract. What contract? The only contract is the standard 12 months. That has lapsed. There is no expected lifespan either. All warranties on parts from manufacturers are not valid to the customer, if the retailer doesn't want to pass them on, that's tough. You are out of SB Computers warranty and did not purchase an extended one. There is no point sticking up for the small guy if he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Sale of goods act places a limit of 6 years to make a claim that it's not of satisfactory quality or fit for purpose. The retailer stating the warranty is 12 months is completely irrelevant to your statutory rights. A £15 toaster you might get away with it, not a £3k computer that should have even had a 5 year manufacturer's warranty (which has been removed through incompetent action by the retailer). The retailer created the risk through basically forcing a modification the customer did not ask for.

From this it appears so.
You need to read the first few posts - the OP asked them NOT to but they basically insisted he pay for the extra cooler

That's a real shame
Since someone who can do that stuff
Is exactly what he needs
But of course I can see why you would be
Reluctant to be responsible for the safe transport
Of such a valuable card
