Resident Evil 8 performance

3060/3070 owners: "I'm sure 8gb vram is enough for games"
Nvidia: "The 3070 is faster than the 2080ti!"
OC UK forum shills: "LOL 2080ti owners, suckers!"

AYE, AYE, AYE YO! :D

Yeah, I proved the VRAM choke in Godfall, but mostly people said it was an amd title yadda yadda.. I proved it at 1440p, not even 4K

Next up, 3070 will hit a big wall at 1440p. Need to remember, 1440p and 4K does not have a "huge" VRAM consumption difference...

It is clear that 3070 will be "barely" enough at 1080p with RT enabled.

Btw 6700xt easily gets 97 FPS. This is where the argument "it does not have enough power for 4K!1" fails. Competitor card gets 4K 90 FPS and not hindered by VRAM, since 12 gb is plentiful!

90 to 43! Oof. That's a huge drop. Not even DLSS can save that one..

The graphics are awful, they resemble PS4 games back when the PS4 came out.
I'd be worried if it didn't run well

Don't know if it's that bad, but obviously simplifed with a horrendous implementation of RT.

Many will be happy though as all that matters is FPS

didn't say 5 seconds is absolutely slow, but relatively speaking it's slow compared to pc and ps5 load time.

But what I find particularly curious is how pc can load it faster than the ps5, all othe games I've tested so far the ps5 loads games much faster than PC except for this game. It's also abnormal in general for a AAA PC game to be able to load in just 1 second, that just doesn't happen.

maybe this game engine proves that PC actually doesn't need Direct Storage/RTX IO just better game programming to make use of our high core count CPus and ultra fast 7gbps SSD

Direct Storage has very little or nothing to do with how fast the game will load. It is the second time you make the same mistake.
Anyway good thing the game came to PC. It may be the first RT game worth playing on PC. :)

You’ll hear a lot of that whenever AMD is faster here.
Nah, I'm talking about this kind of stuff:

https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/n5l5hk/resident_evil_viii_benchmark_guru3d_8gb_not/gx1v05m/

Their tune will also change. When? Obvious, once 16 GB Nvidia cards flood the market!

"AMD led development in RT will over burden the vram as it is one of the advantages the radeon cards have at the moment"

Conspiracy at its best. Exact same arguments I've faced when I presented the Godfall FPS drop video. Inevitable "crap game anyways!1" followed. :p At least RE:Village seems like a decent game. We shall see.

Lol, thread is locked. Funny

So if it happens at 1440p in the upcoming year, will you say it's a 1080p card anyways?

There's only 1 gb difference between 1440p and 4k in terms of VRAM consumption in this particular game. It is probably on the brink of choking at 1440p as well, I hope you are aware.

So as many people predicted AMD cards this generation will age better (with exception of the 3090 for obvious reasons), generation literally just started and Nvidia cards already struggling, even worse considering how much 3070s are selling for.

Yeah, imagine PS5 is easily handling this game at 4K with zero issues at 400/500 dollar price.

Somehow PS5 can fit 16 GB GDRR6, 8/16 Zen 2 cores, a considerable RDNA2 gpu in the price of 400 dollars but Nvidia makes us believe so it is not possible to fit 16/20 GB in the budget of 500/700 dollars.

And a good SSD on top of it, wasnt Nvidia claiming that a 3070 would be as fast as a 2080TI months ago?
