What CPU are you running?
Why don't you look at TLOU2 review @8:00 and you will see these effects made without RT. And they look good, there is no difference between RT and their simulation.

tlous 2 is exceptional but that's naughty dog for you, they make master pieces and put a **** ton of time and money into their games, sadly the other 98% of developer companies don't.... Also, given the amount of time they probably put in to get the game looking as good as it did, that is where ray tracing will be good for them i.e. save a ton of time and have them focus on other areas. I wouldn't be surprised if they transition to ray tracing going forward.
Also, we can't really say "there is no difference" unless a ray traced version of the game comes along.
Your running an Nvidia GPU too right?
So why would Nvidia driver overhead only affect me and not you?
Imagine elder scrolls vi fully raytraced. Hnnnng.
Blurry, pixels etc
The lighting etc. looks great but sadly the textures let it down, much better of playing at night time where possible.
Thought it looked great in the original, loved that part.
The lighting coming through the windows looks superb.

I think none of the above scenes look real there is too much indirect lighting in the second picture. Not to mention it probably takes two seconds to get that much indirect light in the room. It's not bad tbh, better than a lot of games and the outdoor areas look better than resident evil for example.
Digital foundry were talking about RE and did a comparison of ray tracing, this was a pretty cool example to show the difference:

Geforce experience seems to work well with taking HDR screenshots as does the Windows 10 Xbox gamebar, both save the washed out JPG/PNG and a separate JXR file with the HDR colours intact or at least mostly intact, those JXR pics that gamebar saves are huge though, usually about 25MB each. I open the JXR file in irfanview and save it as a JPG which looks like both images below.
Really don't like playing this game without HDR so I have to put up with that DLSS/HDR blur, worst screenshot yet of it, it's like playing on some laggy passive matrix LCD of the 90's

Love the lighting inside buildings.

I am not saying that the first picture is right i think it is too dark but i think the second one is too bright. The light on the floor looks fine but the walls are too bright. That is the problem with RT, we are not talking about real light/walls/sand so how do we know how much light is enough? You talking about the Df comparison? It's far more real than the dark room given that building/room is in the middle of a sunny bright desert (and the sand is white/bright yellow)..... If that is what rooms look like for you in real life, then time for an eye test
Can't say I noticed the delay at all in my play through other than when pointed out for that room above and even after that, I was keeping an eye out and can't say I particularly noticed anything that bad or perhaps I just didn't care enough about a second slow transition given our eyes can take up to 5 minutes to adjust to extreme lighting differences in real life![]()
Apologies of this is covered earlier in the thread, I've not read all the way through, but is it still possible to install and play the original version?
I've got it through this months humble bundle and don't anticipate being able to get a newer card in the current climate (at least not at a price I can stomach).
