*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Will our orders be cancelled when 3080 TI comes out or will AIB making 3080 and 3080 TI?
It will be a shame if they cancel our orders after waiting this long
Today, we’re taking additional measures by applying a reduced ETH hash rate to newly manufactured GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti graphics cards. These cards will start shipping in late May.

I know! I hate asking for updates as I'm sure Scotti and Gibbo are probably sick of it at this point, but the news of the new cards coming out has me a little nervous, after patiently waiting since the start of October it would be like a kick in the nuts if things went wrong now,
try not to think of that scenario! im just living on hope but knowing it could all go belly up! Noooo! would be devastated after all this time. if there is a god "prove it now" in our time of need!.

We have no reason to believe that 3080 will be killed off when 3080Ti launches, Nvidia have never done this before.

However, when manufacturers switch to LHR, there will be a whole new range of models with new part codes, new EANs and new costs. If they then decide to phase out the old models (which will be down to what Nvidia decide to do about full hash rate GPU production) then we'll have to see what options we have.

Can someone tell me how Miners are getting hold of the cards when we should be getting them as pre-orders filled first? same as build stock which sickens me

They're paying a lot of money for them. Up until recently they would have made their money back pretty quickly even at scalpers prices.

So, you'd like Nvidia and their vendors to turn their backs on their best, most reliable customers and force them to put literally thousands of employees out of work just so that you can get your graphics card? very narrow and selfish viewpoint in my opinion.

SI has long been seen as a separate, vital business segment by Nvidia and they know the value of it, because, when the mining bubble bursts and when there's no exciting new graphics card launch to get evert DIY'er buying, the SI sector is still there, buying millions of units per quarter, keeping the revenue flowing for them.

As for your question about miners. It would appear that they're getting cards direct from manufacturers by offering silly amounts of money with no warranty requirement. It's an offer that's too good for many to refuse.

morals out the window as usual! its all about the greed. wait till the apocalypse there will be plenty of cards then, but no reason to use them, i for one will never get involved in anything like this show ever again. i thank you.

At this rate you will get a card this December. LoL

Can OCUK staff currently provide any guesses as to how queues will be handled for people with existing pre-orders once the LHR line launches, especially if non-LHR production slows down, or will that only be known in a month or two when production and shipping are expected to kick in (well, as much as it can 'kick in' amidst a silicon shortage)?

According to Gamers Nexus, MSRP will stay the same between equivalent models (so, say, a strix 3080 OC normal and strix 3080 OC LHR would have the same MSRP) but MSRP =/= sale price, but for them to have parity, I would be surprised if non-LHR queue members wouldn't be offered LHRs.

Or, more bluntly, I'd be very upset to spend ~7 months waiting for queue to go from 508 to double digits on a (semi-)regularly produced card only to have to choose between 'go to position 500 or more in the non-LHR queue or stay in your current one for a card that is produced at a fraction of its original rate'.

Of course, I understand that some people, for whatever reason, would only want a non-LHR model and that a one-size-fits-all solution wouldn't be very viable. I don't envy the position you're in.

Nope, way too many unknown factors to make a decision right now.
What we do know is that we can't manually move thousands of customers from one part to another. Not only will it take days of manual work, as you said, not everybody will want LHR.

Polite note to the wider membership - please don't speculate, please don't start with a barrage of suggestions. It's not going to impact our decision because our decision will be based on what's technically and financially possible for us to do.

This is what I suspected was happening.
Thanks for confirming.

Understood @ScottiB ;)

Cheers, hoping to hear something when the situation becomes clearer. Good luck!
