Days Gone

It's not exactly a surprise nvidia generally does better on PC given that nvidias focus is 100% PC where as AMD is like 10% if that (well maybe 20% since consoles were getting 80% of amds supply :D).... Just have to look at their last live events, 2 minutes, if that spent on pc from amd where as nvidia, the whole show was about pc gaming....

AMD sponsored games - perform better on amd
nvidia sponsored games - perform better on nvidia
non sponsored games - toss a coin

Well it has great reviews on Steam so it looks like a game without RT is not the end of the world, even in 2021. As long as it is a game and not a buggy tech demo like ...77. :D
I wonder what will happen if TLOU2 or Ghost of Tsushima will ever come on PC, i think that will be a blessing for PCMR.

It's a decent looking game but I personally find it very lacking in the lighting and shadows department coming from playing metro and can't help but feel this would have been a wonderful game to show case rtx especially in the dark areas.

For me cyberpunk is still visually the best game "overall" (still can't believe how good the NPCs and characters look!) to date and runs very well with dlss quality given the graphics. Metro lighting/shadows etc. is by far the best but dated textures and characters let it down.

Really hoping TLOU 2, god of war and spiderman comes to PC and given the success of days gone on PC, I would say it is very likely now :cool:

You'd imagine Sony wouldn't want to miss out on the PC market and the revenue they could generate on titles that no longer make it that much money on their own platform. Titles like TLOU remastered, God of War, OG Spiderman that have been out for a while now would benefit.

God of War would definitely benefit from a PC sales boost if the sequel is going to be released on console only soon. Final Fantasy VII Remake is in the same boat. Release them a few months before their respective sequels on the PC and people may actually just end up buying the console for the sequel.

We've seen companies like Atlus with their Persona & Shin Megami series, and Sega with their Yakuza series being slowly ported over to PC.

It's rather amusing how this has really bad ghosting, like considerably worse than when using dlss and that's because of the crappy TAA, just like rdr 2. Can see it in screenshots but it is a lot worse in motion, also very noticeable around characters particularly the flashbacks with the girlfriend, look at the edges and with the bike, look at the back wheel and shoe area:

That's not even worse case scenario, in the more desert area, it is like 5 times more noticeable.

People reporting it on reddit too:

This is why every game needs DLSS, it is FAR superior than TAA.

@Nexus18
Maybe I am blind or just having trouble seeing the issue in pictures but them screenshots look great to me. Game does look very nice.

If you look at the rear wheel of the motorbike in particular you can see an inverse transparent shape of the wheel trailing behind it - more noticeable in motion though than a screenshot.

The boot trail just looks like a shadow unless you know what you are looking at.

85fps at 4k max on my 3090 is good to me but yes direct x 11 is absolutely rubbish and restricts performance. Direct x 12 is only a bit better, both should be dealt with and replaced by the chad API, Vulkun
getting 110fps at 4K on 3090 With 2950X for the Cpu :)

Yeah the game on the whole looks very good but as rroff pointed out, the back wheel, you can see a ghosting/trailing after effect from the wheel, some more screenshots, as mentioned, in motion it is way more noticeable and very distracting:

As bad as it is, I'll still take it over having any form of jaggies though!

Game is very nice looking though, just wish it had ray tracing, even just for reflections as this here is incredibly immersion breaking, exact same spot/position, just the camera angle that has changed:

Gonna be one of those things - before no one would really notice but once you get used to games that implement decent ray traced reflections it suddenly is very noticeable when games don't.

Are we just going to hyper analyse every game now? It's a 2 year old PS4 game using UE4 and dx11.
The game looks great for what it is.

The issues with ghosting are why nobody likes a bad implementation of TAA and last gen console games are known for this.

@Rroff @Nexus18 I can see it now.

For now can you turn off TAA and force something else?
MSAA or something you have the head room in this game.

Sadly when you turn off TAA through config files etc., (don't think there is an in game AA option) the game looks terrible then. TBF, TAA is pretty good in this, in the sense, it doesn't blur the textures anywhere as much as some other games like RDR 2 but the motion issues is an inherent problem with TAA.

Yup it's one of those things I've always noticed to some extent and could always overlook it but since we have ray tracing now, it is very hard to go back and accept the traits of the old methods. Wish I never played metro enhanced now! :p

Very much a case of.....

Given it is UE 4, there is no reason why they can't enable/add dlss, perhaps they will down the line especially since quite a few are giving of about the ghosting on their reddit thread.

Can't agree about this game's TAA setup at all. I usually hate the TAA in UE4 games with a passion but I was perfectly fine with it here. I find that Sony studios in general have just the right balance that I like for their TAA (but the MS ones like Coalition are just... horrid, it makes really mad it's that bad).
Don't know if the unreal console unlocker works in this game but if it does then you can tweak all the TAA parameters to your liking, just keep in mind there's always the trade-off between ghosting, jitter etc. when using any TAA. (see the discussion here:
)

For some reason, I never notice or bothered by TAA ghosting. I don't know if it has anything do with me playing with a fast response-high refresh monitor the ghosting is clearly seen from the screenshots, but i believe a monitor with bad response time may amplify the issue further)

My only gripe with it is the blur it creates

And thankfully this game has fine-tuned TAA, just like other PS4 exc games do, as the Poneros stated. For some reason Sony exc games seem to have fine-tuned across all their games. Maybe that's because Sony actually cares for image quality, unlike Microsoft Studios where they max out the whatever blur scale they use for TAA.
