TTL Rightfully Calling Out Retailers Price Gouging

I can't recommend pc gaming to anyone. Everyone is better off with an Xbox series X or a ps5 no question. Console + 55cx oled is cheaper in price, a significantly better visual experience and sold at retailers much more worthy of your money than a scalped 3080 and basic 1440p high refresh monitor.
Very true

its all bollock two people in my town are selling 6-7 cards each at scalped prices but still cheapers than some retailers

You've never seen bad prices on overclockers?
I think what he means by bad is, that while all retailers are forced to charge silly prices, you get some like OCUK that charge a fair price (when the cost they have to pay to put the product on the shelf is taken into account) and then you get some that are flat out profiteering off the shortage.

And the more people who buy all this **** at such inflated prices just means next gen will be very similar in price if not a lot higher. Look at the **** nvidia got for their 20xx series prices and everybody still bought them...

This is what bothers me the most about these stupid prices. When stock is low there will always be plenty of people with more money than sense willing to cough up.

It then shows the manufacturers just how far they can push the pricing.

I don’t think people should be angry at others for paying the prices. Life is short and sometimes no matter how much you stick to your principles, the truth is, your individual stance is not going to change things when others are not taking that stance.

You either pay or miss out, and many people just want to enjoy their gaming hobby now, as you never know how long you could be waiting for.

I got an rrp 3070. Made it happen as was never going above rrp

Not everyone can do that. It’s very tough to find a 3070 at MSRP. You must have got very lucky.

you make your own luck. I battered the refresh button for weeks and got one on the 2nd drop. Took a week off work and spent 5 days practically glued to my phone.

Taking a week off work is not an option for everyone. That’s some sacrifice to buy a graphics card.

Like when overclockers were raising the price between the period that people were getting gpu's in to their basket and the time they went to checkout - and blaming it on currency variations - then I don't think anyone associated with them can try take any kind of moral high ground regarding profiteering.

At this point Nvidia and AMD need to step in and either start selling direct at MRSP, or blacklist retail/distributors/AIBs that sell above MRSP. Force a level playing field, and put scammers out of business, because the retail/distributor end of the market can't be trusted not to profiteer.

Otherwise there isn't going to be a gaming market left for them to sell into, and when the cryptominers and scalpers move onto something else, there will be no gamers left to buy their products.

We shall see how this LHR ******** pans out. If the scalping continues after that then pitchforks need to move on to the retailers and said duopoly in above post.

OCUK has had "10+" stock of a 2060 for at least a week now, possibly because they're charging £599.99 for it.

Even given the current silicon situation, I'd call that a "bad price" for a budget, last-gen card.
That’s just scandalous. Just £150 less than what I paid for my 3080 and £70 dearer than what I paid for a 2070 super in 2019!

I'm genuinely intrigued, how do you believe they're supposed to be able to sell them at RRP when they have to pay well over £500 to get them on the shelf in the first place?

People getting mad at retailers not selling cards below cost is lol, super lol when other retailers are straight up profiteering.
