Found the hose on my Nilfisk had developed a slight leak where it connects to the unit last week, but nearly destroyed it trying to unscrew it to check the o-ring....it had corroded on slightly. My fault, I should really have disconnected after each use, but I always just left it attached and coiled it up. So I thought "sod it" and bought a new, good quality 10m hose from DirectHoses, and also picked up one of their short trigger guns.
Very impressed! Much easier to use than the standard long gun, means I can spray down the car easily and leave the other hand free for picking my nose or whatever. The hose is better quality too and more manageable (no surprise, think a lot of you have the same) and has the bonus of having quick release connectors at both the gun end and the pressure washer end, meaning I can easily disconnect it and coil it up neatly after use. Score one for lazy sods like me.
I've also just ordered one of the Muc Off brushes mentioned earlier in the thread - my wheels are in for refurbishment this week, want something to take better care of them. I already have an EZ detail brush which gets to the barrel great, but is a bit cumbersome for the face.
Whilst on the question of wheel cleaning - what's everyone's thoughts on the safety of using Bilt Hamber Autowheel regularly? My wheels were first refurbed about 3.5 years ago, but despite taking no damage, over the last winter, the lacquer on all of them basically started to fall off. I have been taking good care of them with regular washing, but that almost always involved being spraying them with BH AW, leaving for a couple of minutes, agitating and then rinsing thoroughly. Part of me wonders if it's perhaps too strong a product for such regular use, so I'm going to dilute it from now one, but I figure it's pH neutral so should be pretty safe even when neat (and that's how it's supplied for use). Is it possible I might have been washing them too often, or just a case of a poor quality refurb?
