I'd say go up 1cm at a time but did just swap out a 10cm to 12cm on my bike. -17 on the Cannondale but have spacers below it.

I was used to having a 56cm felt with 12cm -10 Pro stem slammed or 10mm below it.

Long stems feel brilliant up at speed a cornering for me, slows the steering and makes it less twitchy up at speed.

Thanks Jonny. I still have all the spacers on mine. The bike is on the smaller side for me, so I felt like taking the spacers out might make it feel even smaller, whereas the longer stem would stretch it out more. Not particularly logical I know!

I've had a the bike for over a year now and I'm comfortable on it, so it does feel a bit risky changing things for some slight aero gains.

Had my bike fit with Garry Kirk in paisley on Thursday. I will reserve judgement until a month or so from now but immediate changes include much better reach on the hoods, and being able to ride with power while in the drops. In hindsight I wish I had done his frame fitting service before buying this bike as the frame is too big for me and a fair amount of adjustment was required to get to the position I wanted.

Do you think this tyre will be fairly quiet on a turbo trainer?

Or would this be better:

I bought a cheap bike from Halfords last April (£220) and have managed 2000 km so far. I have a wheel on turbo trainer and have loved using zwift over winter with a training tyre. My original tyres are knobbled MTB type 650b wheels. I’m now riding outdoors with my kid on a bike seat so really need a tyre that I can use outdoors and on the trainer. I’m on a freewheel hub so swapping wheels..etc is difficult. I eventually want to get a dedicated road bike, but prices at the moment are a bit crazy so ideally like to wait until next year. Any suggestions of anything else I can try?

Many thanks!

Managed 75 and 65 miles yesterday and today. Weather was so good couldn't turn it down. Not done back to back long days for so long, but want to get some longer rides in now we're a bit more free and people want to socialise more. Only so long I can ride with my own thoughts without going mad.

Just quick question in regards to people's chain lubes of choice?

What's everyones go to?

Squirt is best if you are happy to degrease chains and keep on top as a wax lube. It's way more easy/convenient than proper waxing.

If not that, then finish line red bottle dry teflon is best from everything I have used. But it's still a pain and requires a lot of cleaning/maintenance for sub optimal performance versus Squirt or even better, proper waxing.

I wouldn't touch any "wet" lubes and I wouldn't bother with any of the Muc Off lubes what so ever. Purely from my experience, total ****.

Thanks I did a bit of reading on squirt last night.

With squirt can you clean in the same way as normal lube? Currently I use screwfix's own brand degreaser (diluted) and a chain cleaner for my chain, which works really well. Dry it then apply TF2 dry lube.

I don't mind maintenance, but not sure how using a wax based one would differ based on my above routine?

The Squirt directions actually say to NOT degrease the chain once you have properly cleaned it and put Squirt on for first time. Wipe clean and re-apply is all the say you should do there after.
But I do degrease it and re-apply. So you totally fine to do as you do now but with Squirt you will absolutely get away with doing a full degrease a lot less.... you will be able to wipe it down simply and apply some more Squirt a good few times before you need to do the full degreasing like you end up doing very frequently on usual even dry lubes.

Hmm interesting, i might look into that as my next lube then, ive read lots of people complain about black gunk build up but assume they are not cleaning/Degreasing well enough before applying the first batch of squirt?
