Vision OC 3070 sticker lifting

I removed the sticker on my 3080 vision as I didn’t like it. It’s the one area that I wish Gigabyte did a bit more effort on. The RGB just comes across as an afterthought, tacked on.

Made a bit of a hash job with gluing it down with those dots. Kinda bent the sticker. Ended up taking the whole purple sticker thing off.
Any chance of getting replacement stickers at all ?

I have changed the led colour to match the others , but not sure if I like the look.

I’d also recommend not using the ‘pass through’ cables to power the card. There have been several reports of doing so causing damage to the connectors. Use a single cable for each connector.

This....^ or may trip the OCP on the PSU too if not balanced on the rails right, always use separate PCIe cables from PSU to GPU.

Examples of it going badly wrong here :-

I got some cable mod extensions coming tomorrow so I’ll sort out the cabling soon.

my psu says do 'not' use extensions in the manual ;)

as for the twin cable thing a 3070 only draws about 200 watts peak you will have no issues on one cable

but for peace of mind you might as well use two

serious question on the 3090 with three power sockets would you not need to use three cables? as it draws about 540-580 watts on peak ? or is it just the balance issue? his 3070 only peaks about 200 watts

never had a issue once with one cable on my old r9-390 in the pre built system from a reputable vendor in the 4 years I used it

Yes all three needed also most gpus will not even allow it to start up without all cables in correctly or you will get a message on screen telling you that you missed a cable or forgot to plug them in.

Some GPUs even have LEDS near the PCIe connectors to let you know of a fault or not connected cable.

ask ANY decent electrician about "high resistance joints" I see this All the time on 32 amp mcb breakers in fuse boards.........same principle, bad contact = resistance =heat =melted bits

Can this also happen if the lead isn't pushed into the socket too well?

As in a bad connection?

Yes if not pushed in right you may get arcing and with cable extentions the problem maybe also using the wrong gauge wire (too thin to cheapen the cost of the cable or connectors not correctly rated too) or again wiring them up wrong and not using enough separate PCIe cables from the PSU.

It's just the load through the wires.

Putting the same amount of cables as connectors spreads the load, which reduces heat and the possibility of something melting.

What it is unlikely to do with is spreading the load over the "rails" of the power supply. Most decent PSUs only have a single 12v rail anyway.

DC at 12v and whatever amps (20 maybe for a GPU) going through those cables is actually high load for a cable, contrary to what you might think more than goes through your household 240v AC.

You should see the wires on my 22.2v 150amp remote control car.
