** The Official Days Gone Thread **

When you get your focus built up and a GPM with a large ammo clip it makes some of the smaller hordes a breeze. Find a choke point and just keep shootin with focus on. Though if you get a larger horde you do eventually get overwhelmed and have to retreat.

As an overall package this game just keeps delivering.

Yup which is why it is pointless even comparing them in the first place

Can't say I had that issue (or rather noticed it) in cyberpunk except for with the cops, which has been fixed/addressed now. Although on that topic, it was quite amusing in DG, on wizard island when driving past the boot camp course where you have the guy shouting "why are you here! why are you not pushing yourself" etc., the private just disappears, noticed that a few times now and with a few of the npcs around that camp, thankfully only seems to happen there and nowhere else in the game.

What I find interesting and very useful is it to compare the critic reviews to user reviews of games. When you get a massive disparity with users giving much lower scores on average, it tends to be indicitive of how good a game actually is. Though obviously there are outliers but when you reach hundreds or thousands of userreviews, the average score tends to be about right for the majority.

For example Days Gone PC on metacritic gives 76 in critic reviews compared to 86 for user reviews.

Cyberpunk flips that to 85 for critic reviews and 71 for users on PC.

Take from that what you will.

The backlash against C77 was insane due to console gamers being angry + the insane hype behind it that was impossible to meet. But if Days Gone and C77 came out at the same time with similar amount of hype and lastgen versions of Cyberpunk didn't exist, I would bet Cyberpunk would be rated higher.

Days Gone had almost no hype behind it, so people are pleasantly surprised by it.

From Cyberpunk lot of people expected Ultimate Life Simulator and only got a videogame, so..

That's why I specifically ignored the CP2077 console scores on metacritic and focused on PC scores for both. Also Days Gone was quite hyped before release on PS4 back in 2019, though not to CP2077 levels but still hyped.

You should take a wander into the Old Sawmill South East of Diamond Lake. :D

Just completed the game 42hrs and 57% completed. That horde in the Saw Mill you have to take on in the endgame story and I wasnt prepared for how big it was blimey it was frantic. I must have covered every inch of that saw mill running away. Even with full everything it was a challenge. Sometimes you get a bit of help when they get stuck on a bit of scenary but not this time. Took me 8 attempts to work out the best route.

You can keep going after the end credits there are the hordes left (I did all the crows already) and they main camps keep chucking marauder/bounty missins at you but I am pretty much DG'd out so I might move on to other games. 2nd best game of the year so far for me. Still got Cyberpunk to tackle.

Keep your safes, unless you already found it there is a second ending as well. ;)

Seemingly there is a secret weapon to be had if you get all the Nero intel
Some can be a bit tricky to get but adds another dimension to the game.

Yeah it was a surprise to see just how many of them there were :D Died loads of times myself on that one. Was so glad I got the penetration perk for guns otherwise I am not sure how many more attempts i would have taken to beat it. I had a bit longer playtime at 48hrs but after doing everything I could be bothered with and the majority of the hordes I called it a day. Really enjoyable game though. hope they do a sequel to it.

On a side note, that horde in the sawmill is supposedly 500 strong  yikes!

I went to that mission with 0 bounties and my bounty number after it was done was 684.

I've actually gone back in to play it to try and get the second ending all I have left is to clear Hordes which now I can do no problem. Still no sign of the second ending though.

42 hours and finished? I am at 55 and still no idea how far from the end I am. Although I am doing all the sidemissions and nero stuff.
The game is a bit repetitive (and in some aspects outright lazy - like reusing three character models and three identical dialogues for every single person saved in the wild, of whom there can be dozens) but the gameplay at 60fps is so well tuned that I am enjoying it anyway.

As for Cyberpunk, go into it with proper expectations (it is a narrative based RPG focused on missions and quests, not on open world systems and AI) and you should have a blast (provided you play on good 60fps capable PC - on your 3080 it will be spectacular).

Yes I did all the side missions, nero missions, cleared the criers I've done everything except just hordes left to clear up. Even did a load of ? ones too although a lot are just rubbish. I get 120-140fps depending on the scene.

Yes with character design it does show its console background. Still not bad for a 2018 game just wish they had updated it for the PC.

As I have said before which really puts me off doing hordes is that the bombs, napalm, exploding fuel tanks and trucks take very few of the freaks out, really needs a bit of balancing, in saying that i am on 96 hours and counting but this is my second playthrough where I am going for a lot more of the collectables.

The most effective way of fighting hordes is to build or find lots of attractors and buy lots of grenades. I find the grenades and the attractor work well together because they both go the same distance when you throw them. Many times I was caught out throwing an attractor and finding my napalm bomb would not go the same distance unless I left cover.
  • Get some stealth cover but be aware they will come for you unless you keep using attractors.
  • Aim where you want the attractor to go.
  • Wait around 7-8 seconds for the zombies to crowd around it
  • Thorw a grenade at the same point.
  • Throw another attractor at the same place and let them crowd around it again
  • Throw another grenade
  • Rinse repeat.
Samller hordes can be taken out with a GPM or the Tommy gun and focus.

Lately, or rather since I have moved to the second area hordes have been appearing as from nowhere, I have taken one or two out but they are not one of the listed hordes, I am legging it from now on, lol.

I got a message from the nero guy and went to meat him and it was like an ending and got the nero weapon blueprint, dont know if thats it though, i still have lots of hordes to do.

how long was it from then big ending till you get the nero guy's message ? Mines been quite a while I've done the missions they threw at me half the maps hordes, although the little "ripper" girl "mission" just appeared and I completed it although it wasnt really a mission just a cut scene.

I just kept my bike close when doing hordes, if you start getting overwhelmed jump on and create some distance. Enough distance and they lose aggro as well.
