We moved into a new house just over a year ago and it's great, just one fly in the ointment, the useless bloke over the road constantly messing with his bike. He's got no job and nothing better to do. Makes working from home very difficult. Is there anything I can do? I have tried speaking to him, without much success.

If speaking to him hasn't worked and he's not doing it at unsocial hours then I think you're out of luck.

It's mostly during the day, so unfortunately I think I'm pretty screwed :(

He's an antisocial little scrote, but not actually breaking any laws :(

Organise an early morning Sainsburys delivery to confuse him

Ive got an neighbour (immigrant) who spends all his time off work messing with his/others cars/trucks
Hes clearly decatted his large truck and its verrry loud

We just ignore it, its not worth getting worked up, (or losing sleep over ;) )

Oh hes American (air service) btw, but hes still an immigrant right ;)

needs to be seriously bad before anyone will step in.

i used to have a tree surgeon a few doors down and they were chainsawing up wood all day everyday and everyone complained but nothing was ever done about it.

could be worse, the Council in all their wisdom put a heroin addict and dealer in the flat above my sister. She has 3 kids.

Seriously starting to wonder about this :(

Why I should be forced out of my nice house by some benefits scrounging little scum bag boils my blood though.

Its a bit of a nightmare, I mean I can understand why this is a nuisance (unlike a supermarket delivery )

If you start disputing things and it goes all legal it can have implications when you try to sell the house as well.

complain to the enviromental health if its noisy all the the time but if not , you'll just have to suck it up im afraid

No point complaining to Environmental Health. If he’s doing it during normal waking hours then it’s not going to be a statutory nuisance and the guidance on noise specifically excludes mental well-being as a reason for something being a statutory nuisance. Even if the OP was a night worker the local authority would be pretty blunt. It’s not antisocial.

It's clearly your problem and if you told me to stop fiddling with my motorbike during the day I'd tell you to **** right off /ocuk mode

In all seriousness, what did he say to you when you spoke to him? Was he argumentative? Are there any other neighbours getting annoyed by it? Will you be working from home long term? Most office workers I know will be starting to head back in soon.

I'm sure there are rules about repetitive noise complaints, even if it's not during anti-social hours. If it's repetitive and constant you should be able to make a complaint of some form.
