RX 6600XT 1080p gaming for $379 on Aug 11

HWInfo isn’t listing GPU memory errors. Actually it’s AMD GPU monitoring is pretty sparse compared to the nvidia cards I’m more used to dealing with. Maybe just needs a Navi 23 update - tho I think it did update very recently.

I’ve settled on 2813mhz core and 2300mhz memory with the power slider maxed out. I’m running on a B450 so restricted by its PCI-E 3.0.

The 6600XT has error checking VRAM so when you get unstable it just drops the frame rate whilst it corrects the errors.

If anyone has DayZ installed, what is the average FPS you get with this card?
Am interested in poor or low quality setting graphics mode in 1440p.
I didn't find any benchmarks on YouTube for DayZ.
May be check out results for Rust which I believe uses the same engine

Indeed. 2300mhz seems to be the sweet spot for most.

I guess i’ll find out when mine ships!

I really wouldn’t recommend this card on a PCIe 3.0 motherboard if i’m honest but at 1080p and 1440p it’s basically a 2080 which isn’t bad at all.

Pricing is a good £100 above where it should be though, I hope the pandemic hasn’t screwed pricing permanently.

the two main ones are If you don't have a PCIe4 motherboard and the second one is If you play at 1440p or higher resolution.

In both of those scenarios the 5600xt pulls ahead

The former is true for Doom Eternal although TPU* did some testing and did not find the same issue as HUB/Techspot so maybe isolated to Ultra Nightmare settings or a specific map/location.

The second point is just false. At 1440p the 6600XT and 5700XT are about the same performance which is significantly ahead of the 5600XT.

Edit: *It was ComputerBase who did the PCIe3 vs 4 testing not TPU.

Nobody should be buying these cards or even the 5600 if they intend to game at 4k. I agree too @timorous from the reviews I watched they all put it around the 5700 so Im not sure why Grim keeps mentioning the 5600..

Would an upgrade to one of these from a Vega 56 be worthwhile? Looks to be just under double the performance. Not sure how much I could sell my old card for though, prices on eBay look crazy.

To me it would be worth it for the warranty you get from having a new card, together with the performance increase and reduced power draw. You can safely sell to the second hand chain for £243 or risk auction site, leaving you having to pay no more than £160. Example of performance increase,

6600xt prices went quite up on EU market. Hardly get any below 500€ now.

Sales are now epic for us in these lines and we’re still holding prices but tomorrow is another day and prices may go up so anyone contemplating one my advice is grab one whilst they are still well priced.

I have just done this exact upgrade, I’ve taken a few benchmarks from vega56 so will let you know how much of an improvement it is.

though I sold my Vega 56 for £455 and bought the Sapphire RX6600XT Nitro + currently at £390.

You cant really lose when that happens. Great upgrade when its effectively someone has handed you cash to get a new GPU with another round of warranty!
