i would be more concerned with Ubiquiti's track record of just ditching product lines with almost zero notice (UniFi Video - 6 months notice to EOL and zero support). Dont get me wrong, I install a lot of UBNT APs and Switches etc but I wouldnt install their CCTV for clients, its not worth the risk.

My neighbor across the road as a PIR light at the front of his house for some reason that is always going off he also has multiple cats. It's extremely bright much brighter than anything else I've seen. Surely shouldn't be allowed to shine straight into our bedroom windows? He's got a ton of cameras too but he does install them for a living must have at least 4 cameras just at the front of his house.
Light pollution as a statutory nuisance - that’s an environmental health issue - Section 80 of the Environmental Health Act 1990.
If you believe the cameras are surveilling your property then that’s an infringement of your right to privacy and you can ask that your neighbour installs privacy filters that ensure your property is not under surveillance but unless you’re dodgy as a very dodgy thing the what’s the problem with having a whole load of surveillance cameras keeping an eye on your street.
I agree, really quite annoyed about the drop in support of Unifi Video.
The G3 cameras themselves aren't bad, they're very reliable. I don't find the image quality to be anything too special though. I will replace mine eventually.
Agreed. And IPVM would seem to share your view on the ‘meh’ quality of the cameras. IPVM hate Dahua and HikVision so for them to say the Hikvision is better than the G4 and G4 Pro must have hurt.

Cameras im okay with apart from the fact he has several facing the visitor parking section. Where he then likes to park his whole business fleet of vans and cars blocking all the street parking up. His light is extremely annoying the previous one he had was perfectly fine no idea why he's got one that's 10 times as bright at the front of his house where there is a lot of traffic setting it off constantly.
We have 4 visitor spaces across the road. He usually has 5 vehicles parked there (some double parked). He has also on occasion double parked behind neighbors vehicles blocking them in.
I know of at least 3-4 other neighbors who aren't happy with him using all the parking up for his fleet of vehicles. Currently there are zero cars on his drive yet 3 in the visitor parking and another parked on the junction straddling the pavement.
He has at least 8-10 vehicles and is causing everyone issues. He obviously knows it's an issue with him covering the parking area with 2 cameras.
Oft not going to lie this guy sounds like a proper *******. I would have lost it ages ago. I used to have to take the mrs to Hospital in the middle of night if things got bad and a scumbag in the flats would park blocking 4 of us in spaces. Only stopped doing it when the ambulance could not get parked for an old dear in the house opposite and she nearly died. The tard then finally moved. Anyone tried getting the council or a community officer around?
We sell laser lights. They’re not cheap but they are ludicrously bright and the literally emit for miles. It sounds like he’s bought or been given one as a sample and he’s mounted it on his home.
As it’s disturbing you, I would ask him to dial it down a bit, or just massively decrease the sensitivity so it only goes off if it detects a human right outside his home.
If he still persists then you need to file a nuisance complaint with your local Environmental Health department. They should come out and have a polite word. If he STILL persists then they should issue him with an abatement notice and if he breaches the conditions of that then it’s prosecution time.

As far as I know there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop him parking wherever he likes unless he blocks you in. Even then it would be a waste of police time tbh calling them as he would likely act innocent and say it was a mistake, etc.
This morning he had 4 vehicles out front and zero on his driveway. I've just checked now and one of the vehicles has gone but a different one is now in its place yet zero on his driveway. He can fit 3 cars on his driveway and if he gets rid of the grass at the front he could easily fit 6-8 vehicles.
His staff come in personal cars drop them off and take away one of his fleet leaving their personal car there which is a **** take, all of his staff or majority of them are all family, he has his son and daughters working for him as well as son in law and step sons and daughters. Today is a quiet day as well with only 4 cars it's usually around double that and when that happens he normally parks 2 on his drive and the other 6 on the visitor spaces with 2 double parked across them. I know my neighbor who has a wide with health issues finds it difficult because they have 2 cars and now need to park one of them a block away. His parking is also dangerous he parks on the junction which has a blond corner as the junction is on a bend it's a T junction and cars coming uphill can't see if someone is coming the other way and needing to come into the opposing lane because his vehicle is blocking their lane. I have asked the council about fitting bollards but got no response I'll try again on the junction as other junctions in the same estate do have them.
I don't care about the vehicles because I can fit 4 cars on my driveway if they are small or 3 large cars. So it's not an issue unless I invite people round and that hasn't been more than 1 household during Covid but if things go back to normal and I organise say a BBQ I'll need to plan my parking a week in advance to steal a space or two when it becomes empty. As it usually has an employee's personal car or one of his fleet in the visitor parking areas.
What is really annoying me is this new light. It's absolutely ridiculous. I have a 9 month old baby and this thing when it goes off I'm not joking is like a UFO is outside or something. It's absolutely ridiculous. The guy owns a security company fitting alarms and CCTV so he obviously has a top of the line system protecting his home with 4 cameras at the front alone that I can see but this new security light is literally shining into our house to the point even if you are downstairs watching TV you can notice it come on as it comes through the windows. At night with no lights on in the bedrooms it's even worse.
I'll have a word with him the next time I see him. I just wanted to see what the legal position is because I know there is nothing legally I can do about his vehicles. Is there something I can use to measure the brightness and what legally should their brightness be from across the road? His house is approx 20m away from mine.

And why do you think you can’t do anything about him parking his vans? The parking provision is for visitors, not the car park for his business. While EH are checking out his lights, ask them to ask the council tax people if he’s paying business rates and if he’s registered to run a business from that property? I bet he’s not. And if the vehicles are parked in private ‘visitor’ parking, then they’re parked illegally and the police will have them removed for you.

You can park anywhere on an adopted road provided your vehicle is roadworthy but is your parking an adopted road? You described it as visitor parking. If, when it gets damaged, it will be repaired by the council, then you may have a point, however that doesn’t look very adopted to me. You’d need to check the planning consents. And the planning consents would also tell you if that piece of parking is for visitors or for overnight business parking. And I come back to my original point, in England, anyone parking that many business vehicles overnight would be expected to pay business rates on the property. I doubt the situation is very different in Scotland.

I'm trying to find a system which uses the same application so they're all connected but I can't seem to find the right package.
Either the cameras are not 4K/battery powered, and/or that company doesn't do a doorbell etc etc.
Just trying to make it an easy all-in-one rather than merging 2 systems together.

Thanks will check. Didn't think to look at Hikvision because didn't they stop non professionals from purchasing their items (except for HiLook?). Not heard of Dahua so will have a look now.

Hi all - I would like a better setup than I currently have to keep an eye on my back door/car/general security. I currently have an old Android phone running Droidcam mounded to the inside of a window using an old car windscreen mount!! See the screen grab. This only displays at 480 and doesn't record. I was thinking about one of the cheapo ~£25 wireless IP cameras that are available. I was planning on mounting it under the eave of the house, and I am able to get power to the unit. I assume that's going to be a lot better than I currently have? I see some say they record to the cloud. I'm not wanting to spend a lot of cash, especially seeing as my car is parked a fair way off and I'd have to spend a *lot* of money to get any ne'er-do-wells in sharp focus, especially at night time lol!

I'm removing an analogue 4 cam system and I'm unsure whether or not to retain the RG59 shotgun cabling, at this kind of budget is it worth moving to a turbo HD setup?
The only thing worth keeping from the previous setup would be the cabling and replacing with PoE would be a pain so I wouldn't be able replace the cam positions like for like.

That looks made for a Dahua TiOC 3.6mm Bullet or a Hikvision Active Deterrence Camera - 40m+ white illumination and set a zone around your car for the alarm to trigger. If anyone goes near your car blue and red lights flash and it makes loud (but not antisocially loud) noise.
