Nothing Ole did won the game, gifted a goal off the back of a foul from Greenwood, then a bit of luck for Ronaldo to shoe in.
Kellogg's could run a competition on the back of a cornflakes box and I reckon Utd would end up with a better manager than Ole.
I think the issue is decent managers don't have to rely on individual moments or pot luck to win them matches as often as Ole does. In 9 matches this season how many have Utd genuinely played well? 2?
Nobody dislikes Mourinho more than me and he was completely wrong for Utd but he done a better job than Ole's done/doing and done so with a poorer group of players. You've said there's no obvious upgrade on Ole but I think that's mad. Kellogg's could run a competition on the back of a cornflakes box and I reckon Utd would end up with a better manager than Ole.
Mourinho played a certain way to get a result. There’s a plan. Ole tonight was fortunate the Villarreal players couldn’t finish and got lucky in the end. Jose was a defensive manager and in that particular game Juve had 3 shots on target.
The Ajax comment about them not being very good back then is hilarious lmao.
Arteta has won an FA Cup and Charity shield but he isn't as good as Ole.
I'm glad to be of assistance @Shamikebab. We do agree on one thing and that is that we both want him as Utd manager. Lets leave it there.
Perhaps but Ajax were still kids then and hadn't really hit their stride. It was a couple of seasons after that they got picked apart. Our route to the final was also a lot easier than what Ole had last season. We had Milan, Roma and Real Sociadad then Villareal.
The same could be said about the league cup bar the city game we had a poor Westham, Hull City and Southampton in the final.

So young Europe’s elite picked them apart lmao. How much did the substitute VDB cost United again?
As for the Artera comparison, he’s taken a far inferior squad and won trophies. Ole? Sod all. How can you possibly argue Ole is a better manager?
Imagine thinking Arteta, who couldn't even qualify for the third tier of Europe is better than OGS. This forum is absolutely hilarious at times.

When you have ex players calling the manager out then well it says something. And the delusion continues.. Lol. it amazes me how anyone can have any praise for Ole, he simply has achieved nothing. I think it says it all when all rival fans are desperate for Ole to keep his job, that tells you everything you need to know.
Watched the game once I got in last night so didn't see it live but managed to avoid spoilers. It was a good match but a hard watch if you are a United fan. Let's be honest United were very lucky not to lose that match as Villareal played the more cohesive football, created more chances and but for our goalkeeper who is back to his very best, it could have been embarrassing. Deputy full backs looked well short defensively - poor old Dalot looked like he had twisted blood in the first half up against their LW. The only other player I thought did ok for United was Mc Tominay - I recognise his weaknesses and he ain't no Kante but, he stuck to his position barely gave the ball away, made more forward passes than normal and some decent ones that the forwards could have made more of. However he was left isolated because Bruno and Pogba are indulged to do what they want and go where they feel. There is no balance in that team with both Pogba and Bruno. It would have been better if Pogba had left and vdB had a chance. We obviously do not look comfortable with that one CDM at the back. We looked a hell of a lot better once Matic came on.
Pogba was lost in central midfield as well. I fear Ole is trying to fit in all these attacking players just because.
Seems mad to say it but I prefer to see more of Cavani rather than run Ronaldo into the ground.

Quick thought experiment for you. Who in that Arsenal team would you take over the current United first XI?
Saka is about the only player in that Arsenal team I would want. You are comparing apples to oranges.
