How you going to survive winter?

Do you know what my favourite thing about winters is? Roast dinners.

Yep, never have them in summer as it doesn’t seem right and as great as barbies are, there’s something very comforting about a nice lamb or beef roast with all the trimmings when the rain is lashing and it’s freezing outside.

Oh, I forgot about her. From All Creatures Great and Small. I do remember hearing about her illness then death.

Now I feel old. :cry::cry:

Topside of beef with roast vegetables and a powerful red wine is the definition of epic.

Our electricity bill is eyewatering at the moment. Getting into the part of the year where if we run the washing machine and tumble drier we can look forward to about £3/day just on leccy.

I genuinely don't know how people on low wages manage.

Our electricity bill is currently disgustingly high, more than double yours. I have spoken to EON twice about it but they insist it's a combination of our usage and the current crisis. It's insane.

They don't use insanely-inefficient-energy-consuming luxuries like tumble driers, for one.

£1.50 a day usage here, £2 on weekends when washing machine and tumble dryer is in use.

Some people i know use their washing machine and tumble dryer every day though!

We do in our house. Well, certainly the washing machine gets used every day.

Wtfffff

I think it's once a week for us. I think that's due to working at home and a big drum. Might be twice I don't keep track.

It's gonna be expensive. Hot tub is definitely off. Can't really make any more savings except cutting heating. Already shop pretty cheap. Don't really go out to restaurants. So just got to suck it up.
Sometimes you have to use the dryer. Otherwise the house gets so damp is not worth it.
I'm not going to sit in cold. Might knock heating back to 19.but it's zoned. Really hoping the zoning helps. Got all issues with that under control

As for hobbies. Winter is harder. Got to grab the good days when they come. I'm still going body boarding. Its not too cold for that. And hope to use bike more than kayak. But yeah it sucks.

Same, running at least £200/m in power and thats before the rate goes up. Our largest outgoing other than council tax. Seems mad but then suddenly you realise how worth it power is if you do ever get a power cut :p

Yep, our electricity bill has gone up to £221 a month with just two of us in the flat. I imagine it's the combination of daily washing machine + occasional tumble dryer use and a lot of home cooking.

@Jez how many in your household?

£64 per month it is now for the two of us in a 4 bedroom 300 year house. No idea what you guys waste your electric on!
