Nvidia CEO: ‘We don’t have any magic bullets’ to deal with chip shortage

they don't Broad partners and distributors do.
According to Financial Analysts at RBC Captial Markets and Barrons, it is estimated that NVIDIA has sold at least $175 Million worth of GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards utilizing its Ampere GPUs directly to miners.

And that's from a year ago. Imagine how much they've made doing it in the 12 months since.

No nvidia has no magic bullets but if it screws up the RTX 4000 release like it did with all the hype and vapourware release of the RTX3000`s Nvidia will have zero credibility and no one will ever trust what they have to say again.

Everyone will bitch and moan on here then as soon as a new gen gpu drops at whatever price decided they will buy it in droves and get swept up by the hype anyway.

As consumers the only power we have is to refuse to buy a product if its not priced reasonably. Instead people just slap it on PayPal credit and think the fact they can run Cyberpunk at 4 was worth it.

NVidia may have problems with chip shortages.

This does not give NVidia and its AIB partners the right to charge crazy prices that do not reflect what they have to pay for their chips.

Which take a few years to build and start producing, hardly a solution that will yield results in the next few weeks.
I didn’t say it was. But framing it that there are no magic bullet solutions is a bit hyperbolic. A quick magic bullet solution would be to stop selling to miners.

I imagine he is referring to the inefficient GPU mining that we will all end up paying for.

yep. in a world where they are supposed to be cutting down pollution and energy waste crypto has no place.
give it some years, activists will start taking action and those who do crypto will end up getting stabbed etc.

I see HP is directly advertising pre builds as a way to get a GPU. The advertising says come buy a HP pre built it's cheaper than buying a GPU from a PC store

A: "Allegedly"
B: Could be interpreted as 175million worth of gpus on cards , eps as is WCCFTech and its sources article is behind a pay wall
C: Nvidia's 2020 q3 earnings where $1.9 billion (over $3 this quarter) so 175 mill would represent a small fraction of that even of it was true
