Well...
This game is an absolute ****ing abortion.
A soul-less, sterile, cartoonish, infantile, amateurish shambles. A huge step backwards for Battlefield and probably the AAA gaming industry. I do wonder if the franchise can survive much more of this?
I hate to say it, but I think it's unfixable. You can't fix the "feel" of a game if the basic underlying bones are fundamentally broken. It does not feel like a BF game. It has no unique selling point, no atmosphere, no character.
The maps are terrible, boxy, vacant. The specialist crap is just nonsense. The gun play is lame. The animations are a joke, the clipping is dreadful and the sound is appalling. The UI and graphic design is weak and the whole No-Pat premise is just stupid. There's nothing to it. No imagination, no immersion. Just a vacuous, poorly executed cash-in. Everything about it screams half-baked, disjointed, poorly managed project. As someone already said, ocean wide, puddle deep.
The people who worked on this will have poured blood sweat and tears into it, but they either weren't the right team, or weren't led properly. It's a real shame and I feel for them, but it's just fundamentally a bad product that doesn't do any one thing particularly well, and does a lot of things very badly. I can't be bothered waiting to see if it gets any better, because it can't get better enough to warrant my time, which is precious to me.
On positive note - the performance for me is fine - 1070 Ryzen 1600X and it's perfectly acceptable at High, 1080p; however this is hardly surprising as the graphics are a step back from even BF1
3/10. Less No-Pat, more Cow-Pat.
I really wanted this to be good. I really did. I'm 38 and I've faithfully bought and played to death every BF game since BF2 (except Hardline). My gaming time is precious to me, but I'm running out of reasons to take it. The peak for me was the BF2-BC2-BF3 era, and BF has slowly degenerated since then. It has still been pretty enjoyable, even through BFV, but wow..... This release is a such a massive drop in quality. There were clearly some absolute geniuses in the DICE team in the early 00s. **** knows what this lot have been doing.
50 Euros wasted. Oh well, back to Days Gone on the PS4, which after a tough start has turned out to be a slow burn masterpiece.
