Yes, but you have to be in the UK before you can apply for asylum (UK government choice, again), so you need to travel here first.

So, you are proposing to allow people to enter the UK with no identity documents for the purpose of making a claim?

And, also, facilitating a route of entry for people, with no documentation, to make a claim for asylum?

Have I got that right?

European countries have always said we're a soft touch and thats why people head here instead of stopping in europe.

So why are people coming here instead of staying in europe?

they're not - after r4today said 3 times as many demand assylum in france - looks like it's true

Unlimited free legal migration to the UK at the cost of the UK tax payer?

Be it "Vampire" Patel's "Channel and Coast Patrol", detention centres or housing illegal immigrants, it's going to cost tax payers a silly amount regardless; there's no option that doesn't unfortunately.

We have loads of shortages of labour that asylum seekers could help fill. Except they aren't allowed to work (another government choice that they could change)

They could, doesn't mean that they would choose to do so if they could claim benefits indefinitely.

All these people on here espousing more "asylum seekers" being welcomed should sponsor one or more until they become totally self supporting financially... ;)

Staggering.
How so?

People without documentation could be processed through immigration control and filtered into the asylum process, if that is their intent. Their claim is assessed and either accepted or rejected.

Can't see why anyone would be against that tbh.

Really bizarre the left keep up these personal attacks on Politicians in order to characterise them as evil

I'm covering all bases as even in the event they could work, why should they be allowed to take a job from a UK citizen.
So you're against them filling roles we need them in, against them not working at all, and against the humanitarian option of providing a safe alternative to people traffickers?

What's your logic behind all that? Like, what is the thing you think is the problem?

That is a surprising and interesting proposal.

Effectively you propose abandoning border controls and proving free transport to anyone, anywhere in the world, who wants to come to the UK to make a claim for asylum.

Do you see any issues at all with doing that?

No. It's exactly how an asylum process should work.

Listen, you want unlimited free migration to the UK for essentially anyone, you believe in open borders; that's fine, but at least state that as your stance instead of hiding behind asylum seeking people "filling roles" in the UK.

What you're suggesting a completely open border. No checks on anyone before they arrive. Also help for them to get here. Anyone who fancies coming here, regardless of their intent or history would be transported here by the good old British taxpayer. Lovely.

Odd for a right-winger to support someone that wants to take away privacy and citizens freedoms ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Guess we've both seen some odd things today

No. People who wish to enter the asylum process are dealt with as such. I can't imagine too many holidaymakers or actual economic migrants from stable countries will want to be filtered into the asylum route.

It seems a better solution than feeding a trafficking black market and risking further channel deaths, frankly. Which is what you're suggesting

Really? In your opinion, an asylum process "should" provide unlimited free travel for anyone, anywhere in the world, to make a claim and no identification requirements?

That is your view and proposal?

Sorry if this sounds rude but that is just ridiculous.

As you don't want to perform any checks before they enter the asylum process then how do you know they are even from a war torn country, or a demographic in a country which may persecute them? Maybe economic migrants won't want to come here from stable countries. But what about economic migrants from unstable countires, because they certainly will.

Considering there could very well be people wanting to come here to harm us, but you don't want any checks performed before we bring them over, then is that a risk you're prepared other people to take?
