If Max was letting him past, why did he slow down a massive amount on the racing line, swerve a bit , wait for Lewis to hit him , and then just speed off?

That isnt how you give a place back that you created your way into.
“Wait for Lewis to hit him” :D:D:D:D

If only there was plenty of time and space for Lewis to drive past him….oh wait a minute.

The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 33 (Max Verstappen), the driver of car 44
(Lewis Hamilton) and team representative, reviewed the video and telemetry
evidence and determined that the driver of Car 33 was predominantly at fault.
At turn 21 the driver of car 33 was given the instruction to give back a position to car
44 and was told by the team to do so “strategically”. Car 33 slowed significantly at
turn 26. However, it was obvious that neither driver wanted to take the lead prior to
DRS detection line 3.
The driver of Car 33 stated that he was wondering why Car 44 had not overtaken and
the driver of Car 44 stated that, not having been aware at that stage that Car 33 was
giving the position back, was unaware of the reason Car 33 was slowing. In deciding
to penalise the driver of Car 33, the key point for the Stewards was that the driver of
Car 33 then braked suddenly (69 bar) and significantly, resulting in 2.4g deceleration.
Whilst accepting that the driver of Car 44 could have overtaken Car 33 when that car
first slowed, we understand why he (and the driver of Car 33) did not wish to be the
first to cross the DRS.
However, the sudden braking by the driver of Car 33 was determined by the Stewards
to be erratic and hence the predominant cause of the collision and hence the
standard penalty of 10 seconds for this type of incident, is imposed.
Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the
Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and
Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.

Edit, ffs those PDFs copy so badly.

So, Max did brake check.

So you can't explain the behaviour then. Got it.

The guy was trying to cheat again.

And you can’t explain why Lewis didn’t go past but instead came up right behind him, got it.

Of course Max was trying to make it difficult for Lewis and to try and set himself up the best opportunity to race again after drs, if the roles were reversed Lewis would have had the exact same idea.

Um, because Lewis might have thought something else was happening (possible accident, something on track). He just came out of a corner, and sees the car in front slowing massively in the middle of the road. It is prudent to assess the situation first.

Lewis isn't obligated to overtake a car at all times. If he wanted a moment to check it wasn't safety related or wanted to work out what was found on, then that is very sensible.

Lots of talking points. The main concern is Max's driving continuing to be desperate and rash.
I disliked the "offers" placed publicly over the radio. I feel the red flag was completely overkill for that barrier repair and being able to change tyres is unfair. Too much is put down to luck and lottery, especially on a track like this.

It's spectacular to watch high speed street circuits but it's frustrating to watch as literally no rhythm could be got by the leaders as we had vsc and SC every few laps. I'm not sure the design of a closed circuit like this is worth the spectacle over practicality to have a good, fair flag to flag race.

Horner aggressively saying to Damon after the race "as you well know Damon.." basically saying Max is a better driver as he's faster in sector 1, and Lewis is only faster due to the Merc engine being better in sector 2 and 3 lol. The stuff that comes out that guys mouth is laughable.

This weekend has again highlighted how almost everyone is tired of toxic Redbull and Max now, apart from Paul Di Resta. The crowd boo Max a lot. Max's driving is disgusting. His attitude is a disgrace. He used the air time to moan about penalties being more of a talking point than the racing. Horner putting in comments about atleast the fans have your back unlike the FIA, as somehow he got driver of the day. Max doesn't yield. He doesn't event give the place back without trying to immediately grab it back or gain from it. He is a dirty, cheating bad loser.

There were no lights on his wheel or on track to indicate this at all, it was green flags lol.

There were a number of contributors here to the whole incident, yes things could have been avoided but we can spend all day analysing and play out every single scenario.
