jack daniels uk's favourite 2021 'whiskey'
8 (9) Jack Daniel’s
Sales: £330.6m Growth: +24.6%
Jack Daniel’s has firmly cemented its place as the UK’s favourite whiskey.

The US brand has gained an extra £65.2m – more than all its rivals in the top 100 combined. The likes of The Famous Grouse (14), Bell’s (36) and Jim Beam (72) amassed £64.5m between them.

With volume sales up by 21.6%, JD’s strong performance in grocery is attributable in part to successful innovation.

In March 2020, it rolled out Tennessee Apple to cash in on the trend for flavoured spirits and lure younger drinkers.

“It made sense for us to explore a new way to appeal to a younger audience in an authentic, true-to-Jack way,” says Caroline Lesur, head of Jack Daniel’s UK.

Made with a blend of McIntosh, Red Delicious and Granny Smith apples, the 35% abv Tennessee Apple has so far added £13.6m

Anyone want to translate this?

I believe he's suggesting that the UK has an alcohol culture where people are more interested in getting drunk than actually enjoying the drink (can't really disagree there).

Also that shots were only invented for that purpose (nothing to do with the UK, "shots" have been a thing for a veeeeery long time, and is certainly not UK exclusive.)

Also that the recent prevalence of craft gins is also basically the same thing (nope! have you seen the price of some of them?!)

I imagine JD on tap, and Coke on tap in wetherspoons has helped :(

Uncool! Fascists! Bad Vibes! They've stopped doing Kronenbourg and Heineken (Good job Senor Miguel's on my main list of lagers) but replaced them with and kept all the crap ones like Carlsberg and Carling!.
Got my bottle o fCointreau before and if anybody's interested, the Toffee+Vodka stall in The Manchester Christmas market on Saint Anne's Square're doing a shot sized bottle of toffee vodka and a shot glass for a tenner.

Just because this is probably a decent thread to post in. Does anyone have any Vermouth suggestions for a decent Martini?

I bought a bottle in Jalon in Spain and it seemed to be great compared to the standard Martini Vermouth i have at home. Sadly i left it in Spain and so looking for something new.

My preference is a fairly wet martini with vodka if that helps :p

Couldn't get my Midori and decided against a bottle Kahlua
But now I've got:-
Chambord
3 small bottles of prosecco
another italian wine
Tia Maria
Toffee Vodka from Manchester Christmas market (I've tried it but this is the first time I've bought a bottle)
Rasberry and Strawberry Sourz
A bottle of Taylor's port (is it me or is this only available in the shops at Christmas?)
A bottle of Amaretto
two cans of Smirnoff and coke
two cans of Smirnoff and Cranberry
and my standard issue cans of Kronenbourg 1664

Anybody know what the reccomended lmaximum time limit in the freezer for a 250ml can of Smirnoff and coke/cranberry is to get it a bit slushy as I've got no chance of doing it with a can of Kronenbourg due to the size?

Useful tip.

Get some sheets of kitchen roll and wet them. Wrap them around the cans and then put them in the freezer for half an hour.

When done, you’ll have to peel the frozen kitchen roll off but the cans will be a lot colder than if you’d just chucked ‘em in.
