PC takes long time to boot. Much longer than normal. No changes made.

What could be the cause, how to find out, what to check?

OS: Win 10 Home
mainboard: ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor 3.40 GHz
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti
RAM: G.Skill F4-2400C15-8GTZRX (16 GB)
PSU: Cooler Master Power PC ATX GX RS-550-ACAA-D3 550W 80 Plus Bronze SATA

loose/faulty wire to SSD/HDD perhaps or a failing drive.

check windows event viewer for hardware events

like here's an example of one of my HDD that has been trying to die for a few years now

occasionally it disappears all together until I reboot, sometimes rebooting takes forever as the computer detects something but can't actually access it seemingly.

I think in my case it's a dodgy connector to the HDD from it being bent at an angle by my side panel. I just live with it cos I'm lazy.
I don't even need the drive tbh

You could try booting into Safe Mode to see if that works faster and then it might give you a better idea to what's causing it (windows or hardware). Also Selective Startup can be very helpful if there's a specific process causing issues. -Type MSCONFIG into Run command.

CheckDisk in WIndows may be worth a go by right clicking on the drive inside windows explorer, then click Properties, under Tools.

There's other disk checkers about, you'll have to have a search here (in the storage forum might be a good start). This might help clarify if there's a hardware failure.

I think that drive will just use standard Windows drivers. You could see if a Windows Update has happened without you knowing causing the issue also?

RAM check possibly is worth a go. Type Windows Memory Diagnostic into Start Menu. There's others, again check the Memory forum for one. Booting with one stick of RAM is also a quick way to diagnose.

BIOS update potentially worth a go, but doubtful that's the cause.

I'm not sure outside of the above.

You need to provide more detail on what is taking the time and at what point in the boot process you think it is delaying. Without that it’s a case of throwing ideas into the wind.

for example is it slowing during

initial post ?
Post to windows boot logo appearing
Boot logo spinner stage
Spinner disappearing but login screen not appearing
Login slow to accept password
Password accepted to desktop appearing
Desktop appearing but being unresponsive for a while cause it’s still loading stuff.

These stages all do different things and the delay in one of those stages helps to narrow down issues.
